Mazda Postpones Sales of the Mazda6 Sedan till July 2014

Mazda confirms plans to postpone its US launch of the 2014 Mazda6 mid range sedan due to last minute preparations for emissions testing. Mazda says that this car will not be available post April 2014 as officials were not so keen on letting this vehicle get a clearance certificate before being absolutely certain of its engine capabilities such as emission and fuel efficiency and this could take some time.

Mazda originally planned on selling the Mazda6 by year end and pre bookings were about to start anytime fall October.
However, Mazda now claims that pre bookings will open fall January 2014 while the first batch will enter showrooms fall April. Robert Davis (Senior VP, Mazda Operations US) claimed today that Mazda will delay launching the diesel variant of the sedan and this time span will be utilized in last minute fuel and emissions testing.

This delay is a minor glitch in Mazda's plans of turning into America's number one Japanese car manufacturing company. However, Mazda will bounce back and will take this setback in its stride, top ranking insiders, choosing to stay anonymous, have revealed. Mazda has taken up quite a few strategies to enhance the fuel efficiency of their vehicles and introduction of diesel engines into the lineup was a smart move.

Diesel however has its share of disadvantages while the American fuel test rules are quite stringent. This means that the company needed to spend some extra time planning and improvising, which resulted in this delay. While other manufacturers have introduced plug in hybrids into the American auto industry, Mazda has made no such moves. In fact, the company is quite happy with its diesel power train and confident about its successful run during tests.

While announcing launch dates in the past, Mazda made sure to include test dates as well. Unfortunately, this is taking more than initially estimated and hence this delay. However, the company is already thinking about plans to attract customers once this car launches and promotional offers are expected from Mazda since they are keen to get back on good terms with the customers.

Mazda is also planning to increase production capacity considering market demand. The company planned on adjusting its production capacity based on pre bookings. However, with this delay, Mazda is soon to start production and the initial batch is expected to consist of 4,000 units of this car. Mazda is confident of high sales in the American market and this is largely owed to its structure of studying world markets before division a product exclusively for that segment.

This is a viable marketing strategy which seems to have paid off in the future. As a result there are no reasons why this should not work with the American market. Details regarding this vehicle have already been disclosed while reports of an on road test will be revealed once the car is available across showrooms. We can expect production to start in full capacity fall July – August 2014 while Mazda plans to reach the top of its class by end 2014.
