Mazda 2 to Come in 2015 with more Style not Space
|   Saturday, August 23, 2014
One of the executives who is engaged in the design and development of new Mazda 2 accepts that this beautiful car is going to be shorter by space in order to give more emphasis to style.

Reports say that it will be even smaller in size from its previous version. While comparing with older one, newer one has 984mm shorter front head which is 20mm shorter. Its legroom has 1063mm size which is 5mm shorter and rear head has 944mm which is 15mm shorter.
Similarly shoulder room has 1270mm size that is less than 30mm and rear leg room is of 874mm size which is 4mm less only.

New Mazda 2 has been made 30 liters less sized than its previous version model. So it measures now only 220 liters which is very short in comparison to Honda Jazz which has 350 liter size. While comparing with few other cars of this class like Renault Clio having 300 liter, Ford Fiesta having 281 liter, Kia Rio having 288 liter and Volkswagen Polo having 280 liter capacity its size seems to be much lesser.

There is some good news for the fans in terms of its size. It has increased the interior space and to be exact it is now 1451mm which means 11mm more than previous Mazda.

Company has enforced a Kodo design having few compromises within the cabin. This step was taken by Kengo Fukushima, the development program manager of Mazda 2 who incorporated sportier and tighter lines designs in it.

Fukushima accepted at the launch of this model that the style of new Mazda is particularly based upon smaller size of it. He gave more emphasis on the comfort of the driver rather than passengers who will seat in rear sits. It cannot be called as an ideal family car.

In this car, main priority is given to make it best for driver position. Driver's area has much more space which converts the rear size to smaller size. It is Tony Mee who believes that this change of in Mazda brought a few negative impacts in its cabin space.

Though the interior of this model is increased from its previous model but still it's less than outgoing models. Accommodating the kodo style and giving more space to the driver has been made possible with this structure.

When Mee was asked about this he gave no comment on whether this size reduction in car's cabin was really a good idea for Mazda fans or not. However he explains that full attention was given to driver's comfort and protection and in this regard it is incomparable with its rivals.

They have not upgraded the older designed rear drum based brakes and main reason for this is making is cheaper by cost as confirmed by Fukushima. Makers also made it clear that they need to make it an affordable and efficient model with cheaper drums. Mazda 2 is going to be in showrooms from November first week and fans should stay tune who would like to book it.
