Lynk and Co 01 - Compact SUV Which Uses Volvo Platform
|   Tuesday, November 15, 2016
The Chinese from Geely, currently the company that owns Volvo, have outlined a new car brand. Baptized Lynk & Co, the new brand has presented its first model materialized in the compact SUV 01. Interesting is the fact that the new Lynk & Co 01 was developed in Sweden on the latest modular platform which will be the foundation for the future Volvo 40 Series models.

With an exterior design that is quite complicated, and takes discrete elements that we find on the Porsche Cayenne or Kia Sportage, the new Lynk & Co 01 will be manufactured in China and will be sold on markets in Europe and the US.
The inside is somewhat part of Volvo's consecrated new trends.

The future model Lynk 01 will come into direct rivalry, particularly fiercest, with known models such as the Nissan Qashqai, Kia Sportage or Vokswagen Tiguan.
Being built on the same platform which will be used for future the Volvo XC40, the Chinese model will use in all likelihood the new range of engines with a displacement of 1.5 or 2.0 liters developed by the Swedish manufacturer. A plug-in hybrid version is also in the books.

As dimensions go, the Lynk & Co 01 falls into the compact SUV segment, where currently big names like Kia Sportage, VW Tiguan, Renault Kadjar or Nissan Qashqai operate. The concrete data – 4,530 mm long, 1,654 mm high, 1,855 mm wide and 2,730 mm wheelbase.
Interesting is that the Lynk 01 is not available in several versions of equipment, like any model on the market, but only in a basic version. To this basic version the client can add for extra costs any items desired within reason.

The launch was focused on modern technologies. The new Lynk 01 will benefit from these technologies, which are intended for the new generation. The Lynk 01 will be continuously connected to the Internet and transmit data to its own cloud service, and a good part of the car's functions will be controlled via smartphone apps. By the way, this application allows the driver to lend his personal car to a friend, without having to give him the physical keys, but by simply establishing his authenticity in the application with his own data.

In addition, Lynk will have its own application store developed in partnership with Microsoft and Alibaba, which is similar to the App Store and Google Play Store, available for iPhones respectively for Android. Besides that, Geely will provide an API (Application Programming Interface) through which any programmer can develop applications for the car, such as a music player or a navigation app.

Lynk 01 will launch on the Chinese market in 2017 and later will be available in Europe and China. Geely has already announced that the next models of the manufacturer will be Lynk 02 and Lynk 03, the name being chosen in order to provide as much simplicity to the model range as possible.
The Lynk 01 will have a four-wheel drive and the transmission will be a six-speed manual gearbox, or an automatic one with dual-clutch and seven reports.
