Lotus 3-Eleven: Most Expensive And Fastest Model Ever Created By The British
|   Saturday, July 11, 2015
The festival of Speed at Goodwood marked the beginning of one of the most important and most spectacular Lotus models. The niche British manufacturer exposed before the audience present at the event the new 3-Eleven model, a model which will be available in both the street and race track version.

In 2007, Lotus unveiled an extremely spartan roadster called 2-Eleven. It used the platform of the Elise model and the engine from the Exige S variant.
This engine type was a 1.8-liter gasoline engine that produces 255 horsepower. That Lotus accelerated from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h.

Described as the most expensive and fastest Lotus ever produced, the 3-Eleven will be primarily a car that weighs very little. Its construction allowed engineers to achieve an overall weight of just 900 kilograms.

According to journalists in the UK, the new Lotus model is the fastest and most expensive in history. The most accessible version will start pricing from 82,000 pounds, the equivalent of almost 115,000 euros!

The performances are born using the same 3.5-liter V6 engine developed by Toyota and borrowed by those from Lotus.
The unit develops in combination with the 3-Eleven a total power of 450 hp at 700 rpm, and a torque of 450 Nm at 3500 rpm. All resources are channeled to the rear axle via a manual transmission with six reports. In the case of the race track version, the manual gearbox is replaced by a sequential one with six reports.

The equation thought of by Lotus will allow the model to reach 100 km/h in about three seconds and reach a top speed of 290 km/h (280 km/h in the case of race track version).

Both versions of the 3-Eleven have an aluminum monocoque structure, with roll-cage for the street version, and additional reinforcements for the circuit one. The bodywork is constructed of a mysterious material used for the first time on a production car strong enough and 40 percent lighter than fiberglass.
Contact with asphalt is made using 225/40 R18 tires on the front and 275/35 R19 on the back. It also has the advanced braking system and ABS supplied by Bosch.

The interior is track oriented with the instruments based around a color TFT screen, which switches between road and track modes. There is also a quick-release steering wheel, along with standard four-point harness Lotus sports seats, while the Race has an optional data logger system. It also sports six-point harness FIA approved race seats, fire extinguisher and battery kill switch.

The British say that the street version can be ordered with a seat for one passenger, and the first units will arrive to customers in April 2016.
Lotus announced that it would produce only 311 units of the 3-Eleven, as a reference to its name to preserve exclusivity. This exclusivity entails a fairly high price. The street version will cost 82,000 pounds, the equivalent of 115,000 euro. For those who want the track version prices start at 96,000 pounds, or around 161,000 euros.
