Live Reports from the Canadian Motor Show
|   Friday, February 28, 2014
The Canadian Motor Show has commenced in Toronto, while some of the industry's top professionals have showcased their best creations of the year at this event. This show was opened by local manufacturers Chrysler and Fiat, who are currently seeking investments worth $700 Million Canadian Dollars or subsidies from local banks and financial organizations, in order to retrofit two manufacturing units located off Ontario.

Among Ford's two major launches this year, was their iconic F150.
However, the Canadian Auto Show witnessed a debacle, started at Detroit, regarding use of weight saving aluminum, which accounts for more than 97 percent of its body weight. People are skeptical about the long lasting enduring nature of America's best selling pickup van of 32 years, due to use of aluminum. Although, insiders are confident about making an impact, this time round too.

Also on display at the event is Honda's 2015 Fit, which will also be launched as the Jazz in certain markets. This super mini will currently be manufactured at Honda's Mexican plant, which is also expected to roll out as an Urban SUV, which was showcased as a Concept last year as the Vezel. Insiders have told us about Honda planning on replacing their current generation TSX or Accord and TL, when it heads into production at their Maryland plant this year.

Honda's entire luxury lineup was showcased at Canada this week. Hence, we know what to expect from them within the next few years at least. The TLX now sports an eight speed automated transmission system, along with a new range of direct fuel injected petrol engines, which are expected to return better fuel economy along with performance.

General dimensions however can be compared as there have been no major changes to their exterior. Honda plans on rivaling Mercedes Benz's E Class and BMW's 5 Series with their latest offering. Four cylindered engine options, along with front wheel drive, will be available as optional features on all these machines. Introducing these two vehicles in Canada also means that Honda plans on producing their Porsche and Ferrari rivaling NSX, here in Canada.

McLaren was present at the event with their P1 and a 12C GT Sprint. McLaren started taking reservations for P1 in Canada, which means we can soon expect deliveries to start. Also present this week were Chrysler's 2015 200, Audi'sS3, Mercedes Benz's, C Class, Audi's S8, Ford's Edge, Volkswagen's Golf, Lexus's LF-LC, Kia's Provo and Nissan's Sentro NISMO Concept vehicle. They managed to enhance the elegance of the show, while giving customers, a chance to choose from a lot more vehicles.

Jaguar showcased their C-X17 Concept, which is based on Audi's iQ – all aluminum – platform. Borrowing design cues from their latest F Type coupe this vehicle has a mean sense of aggression and precision in its design. It is ready to take on Audi's latest Q5 and BMW's X3. Jaguar plans on increasing SUV production, although they will not hamper with Range Rover's market share, which is all set to expand soon, our insiders have confirmed.
