Lexus Showcases the 2015 Super GT Prepped RC 500
|   Wednesday, August 21, 2013
Lexus is currently designing and developing a new coupe which will rival the latest Mercedes Benz C Class Coupe, BMW 4 Series and the Audi A5 in its own class. The Lexus RC will also battle it out with the Nissan GTR and the Acura NSX apart from few other European exotic vehicles. The rise of the Japanese Touring vehicles have increased within the past half a decade and these vehicles are now being used in races outside the country as well.

These cars participate in two of the major race categories across the globe - the GT 300 and the GT 500 – and the Lexus RC will be participating in the GT 500.
Lexus currently races in the SC 430 and the latest rendering of the car confirms the GT 500's similarities with the other supercars from the company.

Lexus confirms that the GT 500 will be unveiled in 2014 as a 2015 race car even though the company is yet to announce the detailed specifications of the car. However, Lexus has confirmed that the firm will be using a front placed 2.0 liter engine to power the car while use of advanced carbon fiber on the body panels helps the car perform under optimum conditions and to the limits.

The Lexus RC is currently undergoing tests while the prototype has just been unveiled. Lexus is working on a high performance RC F trim as well, the first glimpses of which was showcased back in 2012 along with the Lexus LF CC. Lexus also plans on launching the RC F, RC350 and the RC 250, to strengthen its track vehicle lineup while the hybrid vehicles include the RC 300h and the RC 200t. Both the vehicles are power by super charged engines.

Lexus is using the GT 500 to showcase its strength in the futuristic car concept design and this policy is in line with that applied by Honda. Touring car races are quite popular in Japan and this proves Lexus's superiority in class. Lexus is fairly experienced in the world of race cars and as a result their new venture should prove to be fruitful.

Lexus is currently working on the vehicle which will take on the bigger competition in the Super GT Series and the next big challenge will be unveiling the vehicle early next year for the new season. Extensive tests are being conducted on the vehicle at the moment and unlike Honda, Lexus is testing the car back in Japan with European tests being scheduled to commence within the next few weeks.

Even though we have no clues to how the new vehicle will perform, both Honda and Lexus are quite confident of their new creations. It is just a matter of months before we get to see the new cars in action round the track. Lexus claims that they have used lots of new engineering mechanisms on the car to enhance the general feel and these could be used on street cars quite soon.
