Lexus NX Facelift Debuted in Shanghai
|   Monday, May 29, 2017
The Lexus NX received a mid-career facelift 3 years after its launch. The refreshed model debuted at the Shanghai Auto Show with some exterior and interior, as well as name changes. Because the turbocharged engines are used in more and more models, Lexus decided to remove the letter "t" from the NX 200t, making it simply the NX 300.

The NX 300h hybrid version will continue to be offered with the 2.5-liter unit, naturally aspirated, paired with two electric motors.

Outside, the new Lexus NX has received new optical blocks, which are now accentuated by three more compact LEDs, identical to the Lexus LC coupe. The front grille also changed its shape and mesh and the front bumper received larger side air intakes.

The biggest changes, however, were to the rear, where the new longer optic blocks appeared. Because of this the shape of the tailgate had to be changed too. The rear bumper has also been modified, but only at the bottom, near the unpainted plastic region.
At the same time, the exhaust pipes appear to be more generous. Another novelty for the new models is that they allow customers to opt for 18-inch wheels and the F Sport version also received a more aggressive design.

Inside, the clocks and the climate control buttons, have been altered. The driving regime changer received a more luxurious look along with other control elements, like the transmission lever and door handles. At the same time, the multimedia system display increased from 7 inches to 10.3 inches.

The clock in the center of the console now has a simpler and clearer design, being enlarged for better legibility. The new models allow automatic time adjustment when detecting a change in time zones. The touch pad now has a larger surface and its operation has been simplified. The USB ports have been relocated, and the amperage has been increased for smartphone fast charging, which can also be charged by induction.

To improve acoustic comfort, the engineers increased the amount of insulating materials and recalibrated the suspension. This way, the maneuverability too is improved. More than that, the chassis of the new Lexus NX facelift received the Adaptive Variable Suspension (AVS), based on the one found on the LC 500, which offers a range of 650 instant adjustments compared to the 30 previous adjustments.

The new NX facelift receives the Lexus Safety System +, as standard equipment, which includes systems such as Pre-Collision System (PCS), Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) and Automatic High Beam (AHB).
From an engine point of view, the new Lexus NX facelift models see no change. The new NX 300 will be equipped with the same 2.0 liter turbocharged engine capable of developing 238 horsepower.

The hybrid version, NX 300h, is equipped with a system of two electric motors, joined to a 2.5-liter traditional engine, allowing this system to deliver a total of 197 horsepower.

Lexus representatives claim that the new models bring about significant improvements in suspension, resulting in upgrades that bring greater comfort.
