Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept - Level 4 Autonomous Crossover and New Design Direction
|   Wednesday, August 08, 2018
Lexus introduced the LF-1 Limitless concept at the Detroit Auto Show. Designed by California's Calty Design Center, the Japanese-made crossover anticipates a new line of design that we will see on the next-generation SUVs. However, sources close to the company say that the LF-1 Limitless could underpin a new flagship in the SUV segment.

The Lexus LF-1 Limitless Concept is 5,014 mm long, 1,986 mm wide and 1,605 mm high. The wheelbase announced by Japanese officials is 2,974 mm.

At the same time, the “crossover without limits” as it was called by Lexus officials, announces the future direction for propulsion systems. The Japanese say the LF-1 Limitless can be equipped with a gasoline engine with a hybrid system with a hybrid plug-in system with a hydrogen fuel cell system or electric motors only. The Japanese say that by 2025, each Lexus will have an electrified version (hybrid, hybrid plug-in, 100 percent electric).

Inside, the Lexus LF-1 Limitless offers top-of-the-line materials and the cabin has been tailored to warmly welcome any passenger. The controls are done with gestures, the classic buttons being removed. The functions will be coordinated by the infotainment system and the driver will receive the necessary information via the screen instead of the instrument cluster.

In its lateral areas another two smaller screens are attached, which take video images to cameras that replace the side mirrors. At the same time, Lexus says the LF-1 Limitless also integrates autonomous level 4 technology.
