Land Rover has a host of new models set to launch in 2020
|   Friday, November 09, 2012
Land Rover has planned a huge number of new model launches that could change the future for the brand. The company has planned to launch close to 16 new models for the lineup and this could double the sales of the company by 2020. This is one of the most ambitious projects seen by any British car maker till date and if successful, it could change the face of the British economy.

The upcoming models will be based on three distinct sectors of the SUV department, utility, luxury and leisure.
According to company executives, Land Rover is planning to expand all these three sectors and will include all the platforms of Rand Rover, namely Defender, Range Rover and Freelander. The upcoming seven years will witness four new models in the leisure SUV segment and this is a growing phase for Land Rover.

Although the Land Rover officials have refused to give out any number, market analysts claim that the global SUV sales will exceed 22 Million by 2020. If Land Rover is to reach their sales target of doubling sales, the company has to create 600,000 units per year. Land Rover officials claim that this is a hostile way of looking at things and approaching them and the company seems to be doing just fine with both.

Land Rover will also extend the current lineup by six models including the Evoque XL which sits in between the Evoque and the Range Rover Sport. The Evoque lineup will also feature a convertible and a three door SUV with a wheelbase of just 4 meters. The Land Rover leisure lineup will feature new vehicles with an entry level Freelander being the first vehicle to be launched. Another five seated version of the Freelander will also launched at the top of the line and this has been given a new aluminum platform to make it capable of challenging the BMW X5.

An Evoque based model tagged the DC100 will also be available and this vehicle is expected to be a distant relative of the Land Rover Defender. These new platforms will not just challenge the engineering qualification of Land Rover but will also test the company's financial stability and patience. Land Rover has been considering 40 new possible model launches in the future and the company has estimated an average expenditure of 2 Billion Dollars per year. Land Rover will also improve the production capacity in UK and the arrangements are currently being made.

Jaguar Rand Rover will however not limit its offerings to the European market but will make the new models available throughout the world. The global market has a huge scope for expansion at the moment and Jaguar Land Rover is planning to cash in on this occasion. The manufacturing plants are been built in China as well and this is expected to meet the demands of the Asian market. The Chinese market is on an expansion spree and therefore must be included in the JLR expansion plans to reach sales targets by 2020.
