Lamborghini to Showcase the Cabrera at the Frankfurt Motor Show
|   Monday, June 24, 2013
The Frankfurt Auto Show 2013 will see the latest Lamborghini Gallardo celebrating the 50th anniversary of the car maker. The Gallardo will be replaced this year and Lamborghini made the official announcement a few weeks back. The Frankfurt Motor Show will showcase the replacement Gallardo and the confirmation comes in from reliable sources. Rumors are spreading high and fast and this new variant is expected to be called the Cabrera.

Lamborghini is famous for its references to Spanish bull fighting and the Cabrera maintains its image.
Cabrera translates to Spanish bred bulls with references to other famous breeds such as the Miura, Navarra, Gallardo, Vistahermosa Parladé and Veragua. This two seated Lamborghini will go on sale fall 2014 and is designed on the new light weight aluminum chassis designed by Lamborghini. The advanced space frame structure does its best to maintain a light weight vehicle and has been used on the Audi R8 as well.

Although the Cabrera and the R8 feature similar engineering measures, both vehicles will be very different from one another in terms of designing and technology. The next generation Audi R8 which is expected to hit showrooms fall 2015, will weigh 430 lb lesser than the current version of the R8. The Cabrera borrows many designing elements from the Egoista and the Sesto Elemento Concept and is rumored to sport an even aggressive exterior as compared to the last generation Gallardo.

The Cabrera is codenamed the LP724 and measures 177 inches. The ride height has been lowered and this gives the Cabrera a meaner glance. The front end bears true resemblance to a Lamborghini although neither the renderings nor spy pictures have surfaced so far. Currently, the situation is quite bland and Lamborghini needs to spice things up in the market.

The launch comes at an appropriate moment and renderings of the vehicle are expected to be leaked within the next few weeks. Insiders claim that the Cabrera weighs 3307 lbs although no official confirmation has been made. The Cabrera will be powered by a 5.3 liter naturally aspirated V10 engine which is expected to displace close to 600 BHP as well as 400 ft lb of torque.

The engine is a modified version of the one used in previous models although it has been tuned to meet the stringent requirements of Europe. The engine will be mated to a dual clutch six speed manual transmission system, which will replace the current E gear sequential transmission system present on the current version of the Gallardo. The new transmission system will also be used on the next generation Audi R8 and Lamborghini is planning on bringing both all wheel drive and rear wheel drive platform to Europe.

This seems to be a very interesting year for car lovers as a new Lamborghini is set to replace an already steady model. Lamborghini is expecting huge acclamation for its work and the new car does justice to the Lamborghini brand name. We hope Lamborghini reveals details and specifications fast.
