|   Friday, February 13, 2015
The Lamborghini Huracan GT3 racing version of the Italian supercar was presented at the headquarters in Sant'Agata Bolognese. The model will compete in the Blancpain Endurance Championship and enjoys composite bodywork and come equipped with an aerodynamic kit.

The front spoiler is adjustable and has carbon fiber splitters, as well as a new hood. The front wings have a ventilation system to cool the brakes, the side skirts have been revised and the rear spoiler is also adjustable.
The rear bumper incorporates a dual exhaust system, and an air diffuser with an aggressive look. The car weighs t 1239 kg (2,700 pounds) with a weight distribution of 42 : 58 front to rear.

This competition chassis is made of aluminum and carbon fiber. Also, the front and rear frames are modified compared to the series version. Like any self-respecting competition model the braking system is more efficient than the standard one. On the inside a rollcage which comply with the FIA standards has been mounted, next to a racing chair made from carbon fiber, and a fire extinguishing system.

Those at Lamborghini will make public the images of the interior, but they are relevant only for pilots who will run with these vehicles in the endurance championship sponsored by Blancpain.

The brake discs have a diameter of 380 mm at the front with six-pot calipers, and 355 mm in the rear with four-pots, and they come with a Bosch ABS system. There are 12 settings for this, and also for the traction control.

"With the Huracan GT3, Lamborghini Squadra Corse takes a further step forward in the development and production of a race car for this category, which is among the most prestigious and challenging in international motorsport" explained chief Stephan Winkelmann.

The Huracan GT3 engine is a V10 aspirated engine displacing 5.2 liters, coupled to the sequential transmissions with six-speed. The latter has a competition clutch with three discs to cope with the extreme demands associated with endurance racing. The first race of the season takes place in April 2015 at Monza, and someone that wants to be "gentleman driver" has to pay 369,000 euro (427,375 dollars) just for the car itself, without participating in the respective competition.

The Blancpain Endurance Series calendar of 2015 includes races on the circuits at Monza, Silverstone, Paul Ricard, Spa-Francorchamps and the Nürburgring. Also in this endurance circuit the Volkswagen Group brand Bentley, with its own partner, Team M-Sport is involved too.

"Lamborghini is thus for the first time directly involved in GT motorsport activities with the in-house development of this new model. We are proud and delighted to announce the new partnership with PERTAMINA, which will further support our motorsport activities" stated for the press Stephan Winkelmann, Lamborghini CEO.
PERTAMINA is an Indonesian energy and oil company that is Lambo's Squadra Corse official technical partner.

In terms of aerodynamics, the model has been developed together with Italian race car builder Dallara. Lamborghini plans to make up to 26 cars over during the coming season. The model has been in the testing phase since last fall.
