Lamborghini Aventador S - An Extra 40 HP Facelift and Other Goodies
|   Sunday, January 29, 2017
After six years on the market, the replacement of the Murcielago is presented with a facelift. With this update, the new Aventador gets the suffix "S" added to the name. And for all intents and purposes, it is a well-deserved addition for the model.
The bodywork has many new details and Lamborghini says that each of them have been designed with a clear purpose, namely to improve aerodynamics and engine cooling efficiency.

At the rear, stands out the aerodynamic diffuser, which can optionally be made of carbon fiber and the aileron can move in three positions according to the speed and the selected run mode.
Also, the aerodynamics are designed so that under the car, at both axles, a so-called vortex of currents is created to cool the brakes and better optimize the way in which air is directed under the supercar.

All these solutions have resulted in 130 percent increase in aerodynamic thrust to the front, and when the aileron is fully lifted the downforce generated is 50 percent higher. Furthermore, when the aileron is in the lowest position the aerodynamic downforce is 400 percent higher than the pre-facelift model.
The Lamborghini Aventador S marks a major development on the chassis too. In addition to permanent all-wheel drive system, the Italian sports can now turn on all four wheels, and has also received active suspension. The fact that the model now has guiding rear wheel has allowed the recalibration of the all-wheel drive system to deliver more torque to the wheels.

The driver can choose between four driving modes (Street, Sport, Corsa, Ego), which are distinguished by a different response from the engine, the transaxle, the 4WD system, steering and suspension.

In the Street mode, the torque is distributed in standard, 60 percent to the rear axle and 40 percent to the front. In Sport mode, 90 percent of torque is send rushing to the rear wheels. Also, in the Corsa mode torque divided is s 80/20 ratio between rear and front.

The control of the car is better thanks in no small part to the braking system with internally ventilated and perforated discs that are produced from a mix of ceramic and carbon. At the front wheels, the discs are 400 mm and 380 mm on the rear wheels. As a result, the stopping distance from 100 km / h, is 31 meters.
The Aventador's evolution also translates through an increase in resources developed by the V12 engine with a displacement of 6.5 liters. The power went up by 40 hp up to 740 hp and torque is 690 Nm. The sprint from 0 to 100 km / h takes 2.9 seconds and top speed is 350 km / h.

Lamborghini was thought to mitigate the fuel consumption, so the engine was equipped both with stop a start & stop system and with a 6-cylinder (out of 12 cylinders) deactivation system.

Also, Lamborghini Aventador S received a configurable digital instrumentation panel and offers compatibility with CarPlay Apple as standard. Optionally, the Lamborghini telemetry system may be installed, by means of which the track performance can be recorded or data about carried out routes.
Lamborghini Aventador S will be delivered to customers starting in the spring of 2017 and is marketed in Europe with prices starting at 281,555 Euros.
