|   Saturday, November 17, 2012
To change a generation of vehicles, after being on sale for less than a year, is quite an unusual feat. Few in the entire automotive industry have ever done it, let alone Honda. But his time there were reasons behind the decision.

The Japanese automaker received a lot of criticism for the ninth generation Honda Civic. Included in that range were the lackluster dynamics, relatively low interior quality, high noise levels, low feature count and overall uninspiring design.
These were the reasons why the guys from Consumer Reports removed the 2012 Honda Civic brand from its Recommended List. They went farther that that and, in August 2012, Consumer Reports called the 2012 Honda Civic "a car to avoid".

However, in spite of all that, results obtained by model are actually very good. In the first 10 months since its launch over 250,000 units were sold . That is actually almost 40 percent more than the eighth generation made in 2011. Despite these remarkable results critics have been stronger and that is how the decision of remodeling won. And so the new Honda Civic 2013 was born.

"The 2013 Honda Civic exterior refinements infuse Civic with a more youthful, premium style. Coupling these with additional changes beneath will ensure that Civic maintains its top-ranked status," said Vicki Poponi, assistant vice president of product planning for American Honda.

Naturally, the changes start from the front, where the car gets a new appearance inspired heavily from the look of the all-new 2013 Honda Accord. The 2013 Honda Civic Sedan will come to L.A. with"a host of safety, feature, comfort, chassis and interior styling enhancements that will further define the top-selling Civic as the best car in the compact class," according to the automaker.

The refreshed Civic compact will arrive later this month at the Los Angeles auto show. The 2013 Honda Civic promised a number of safety, comfort and styling enhancements.

As already mentioned, the Civic will adopt new front-end styling for 2013, with the compact displaying an updated lower bumper with chrome accents, a black honeycomb mesh grille, clear-lens corner lights and a slighlty more sculpted hood. The higher trim versions of the 2013 Civic get new integrated fog lights.

The rear of the 2013 Honda Civic has also been modified with an eye towards better matching the appearance of the Accord. The new design has more details and comes with a strong chrome accent bar mirroring the front changes. Combined with a new trunk lid that integrates the car's rear lights, Honda ow delivers a more finished look overall for its car.

Honda says the 2013 Civic will likewise boast an improved interior and boasts of a more comfortable ride. That doesn't stop the the Japanese automaker from holding off the full specs until the LA show is underway.
According to Autobytel, the 2013 Civic could get even more changes. It seems that the press will have access to the car though regional press events, while the Canadians will enjoy an invitation to a national launch taking place this November.
