Koenigsegg Regera Announces 1520 Horsepower And 3 Million Euro Price Tag

The Swedes from Koenigsegg are not to be outdone in this edition of the Geneva International Auto Show, coming to the forefront with a fabulous performance car. Who would have thought this after a spectacular debut by Bugatti's Chiron, the Veyron's version replacement that scores 1,500 horsepower and a torque of 1600 Nm from a W16 engine and in which the Franco-Italian brand has invested the latest technologies of the Volkswagen Group?

And yet here is the new Koenigsegg Regera which exceeds all expectations, surprising people that are coming from all over the world to attend the most important automotive event in Europe.
The Koenigsegg Regera series version is the most powerful production car ever produced by the exclusive Scandinavian brand.
And, while we're at this chapter, it is the most powerful production car ever made by any manufacturer.

Unlike the Bugatti Chiron, which relies on a traditional motor, the Koneigsegg Regera has under the hood a hybrid system that develops a total 1,520 horsepower and a torque of 2,000 Nm, 20 hp and 400 Nm more than the Bugatti Chiron. At the bottom of the package is a Twin Turbo V8 engine that delivers 1115 hp, but is aided by two electric motors powered by a 4.5 kWh battery pack (battery capacity about a quarter of Renault's Zoe, for example).

Koenigsegg Regera has the design and propulsion system based on the concept with the same name, which the Swedish brand introduced last year, also in Geneva. The series model comes with over 3000 changes, however, small and large, the most important result of this approach is the final weight of only 1,590 kilograms - almost 450 kg less than the Bugatti Chiron.

The most interesting aspect of the new Regera is that the model does not rely on a traditional transmission, either automatic or manual. Instead, the Swedish manufacturer announces a special gearbox that sends power to the rear wheels exclusively through a direct transmission system. Koenigsegg believes that this system eliminates the delay in switching gear, offering a unique feel on such an ultra-sport model.

Regera benefits from the contribution of using technology found on super-cars from Formula 1that helps it to become the most powerful production car ever built. With such technical equipment, we are facing astounding technical performance.

In terms of numbers, the Koenigsegg is in the Chiron's league, which it does not manage to overcome.
For example, acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h is done in just 2.8 seconds (2.5 seconds for Bugatti), to 200 km / h in just 6.6.secunde (6.5 seconds for direct rival), while up to 300 km / h takes just 10.9 seconds. The maximum speed the new Regera can reach was not specified, but it can pass 400 km / h. Bugatti Chiron announces an electronically limited top speed of 420 km / h.

The new Koenigsegg Regera will be produced in a limited and exclusive series, only 80 copies in the next four years, with work starting later this year. The price at which a copy will be available in the basic version revolves around 3 million euros, so half a million euros more than a Bugatti Chiron.
