Kia Showcases the Provo Concept at the Geneva Motor Show
|   Saturday, March 16, 2013
Kia has generated a basic change in its design aptitude and this is evident in the way the new car is designed. Peter Schreyer took over as the Design Director of Kia in 2006 and he has built a dedicated design team around him. The result of the hard work of the team is evident in the Kia Provo Concept. The Provo was designed at the European Design Studio in Frankfurt owned by Kia and the vehicle showcases the potential of the brand's designing capability as well as the performance of the B Segment vehicles.

The basic designing layout of the Provo is based on the vehicles from the 1960s – 70s but features a horizontal roof line which communicates the robustness and strength of the chassis to the body structure. The truncated rear end as well as the long hood gives the car its classic appeal while the fully surfaced design language makes the car timeless while giving it an appealing aesthetic value.

The forward placed C Pillars give the vehicle a dynamic motion while the chrome rocker panels give this concept with its innovative appeal. The sculptural homogeneity of the earlier designs from Kia has been broken with the Provo Concept and if approved, this could be the new design concept of future vehicles from Kia.

LEDs change the overall look of the vehicle up front and these technical aspects allow users to modify the vehicle according to their preferences. The cabin has also been reworked and the low seats give the car a very relaxed yet aggressive feel. Interior space is adequate and the cabin provides sufficient head and leg room for the driver and passengers. The driver's seat is also quite upright and provides adequate under thigh support.

The interior upholstery has been used to resemble that of the exterior pattern and the concept vehicle is the perfect combination of both. The quality of the materials used is top notch and Kia has left no room for complaints with the Provo Concept. This is solely a concept design and there are no immediate plans of sending this vehicle up for production. However, this could be a possibility in the near future.

Kia is working extra hard to make sure that the Provo Concept does not feature and faults and glitches and has been showcased at the Geneva Motor Show. The prototype is expected to be out for testing quite soon and the arrangements are currently being made. The Provo Concept is Kia's reply to the higher ranked vehicles in the B Segment.

The specifications and price of the vehicle has not been allowed and customers have not received an early glimpse into the mechanical components of the vehicle. The hype around the vehicle is however optimum and the designing play an important part in this. The Provo Concept is the continuation of the GT model showcased by Kia last year and is based on a particular designing theme. The head lamps, front bumpers and lighting gives the Provo Concept its characteristic appeal.
