Kia Replaces the Carens and Sedona with the Carens 1.6 GDI
|   Monday, May 27, 2013
Kia has replaced the old version of the Carens and the Sedona with a new version of the Carens. The seven seated versions of the Carens are however sold in the UK and this is Kia's answer to the Ford Grand C Max. The Carens is the only large MPV from Kia and the company is making complete use of this vehicle in tackling stiff market competition from major players.

The latest vehicle is tagged the Kia Carens 1 GDI and features an advance six speed manual transmission system.
This not just enhances the drive feel but also decreases the potential price tag on the vehicle. This is a great strategy considering the current state of the market and this move is set to benefit Kia in the long run. The vehicle sports great fuel efficiency, decent interior trim and overall comfort, which makes the Carens a ride to look out for.

This vehicle will find sales in the commercial MPV segment as this is a great urban vehicle and is also suited for people who are on a lookout for a vehicle to transport children to school etc. The Carens are the perfect on road car as long as you are happy with the ergonomics of the car. However, once you start looking at the dynamic abilities of the Carens, you are bound to be disappointed.

The Carens are not designed for versatility and fares poorly off road. Keeping all steps under consideration it would be wise to keep this vehicle on the road for as much time as possible. The vehicle has a decent amount of cabin space which can be expanded by folding the rear seats. The interior trim is quite pleasant and this is great news as the Carens are quite comfortable for long distance trips.

The seats are quite low although they can be raised and adjusted effortlessly. The engine displaces 133 BHP @ 6300 RPM along with 122 ft lbs of torque @ 4850 RPM. The Carens reaches 60 MPH from a standstill at about 10.9 seconds, which is effortless for its class. The speed and handling are well balanced and the Carens provide a complete ride, both for the passengers and the driver.

This vehicle is not especially difficult to control and the Carens seems to be responding effortlessly to the driver. Handling is decent and no excess stiffness abound, which is a real problem with many potentially viable MPVs. The Carens is an economically viable vehicle and this is the best that is available at the price point.

Even though the Carens 1 is a success, the best option is still the ‘2' Trim level. This has overall better finish and is more comfortable than the 1. Priced at £17,895, the Kia Carens is true value for money. Sporting a top speed of 115 MPH, it is not the fastest vehicle on road, but is definitely quite fast considering its dry weight nearing 1606 kg. Kia has done a fine job with the Carens and this vehicle is expected to be available in showrooms by the end of 2013 or early 2014.
