KIA Ready to Mass Produce its GT Concept
|   Tuesday, October 29, 2013
Kia is very close to sending its KIA GT Concept to production. This vehicle was first showcased back at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show while senior company executives had pointed at an end 2016 or early 2017 deadline for this vehicle. However, plans went better than expected and this vehicle could now be showcased as early as mind 2014. Soon Nam Lee, KIA's Chief of Overseas Operations said that top officials planned on doing something special with this vehicle.
Hence, it was given top priority.

KIA is on a scourge for optional vehicles for European and American markets and hence vehicles such as the GT could well be implanted in its lineup. KIA Motors Production chief Paul Philpot said that the company is keen on seeing its GT in showrooms as it opens up a new segment for KIA to expand.

Future sports models from KIA depends solely on the success achieved by the GT, across global markets. European markets were demanding a sports sedan from KIA since a long time and they will finally be getting what they have been looking for. Mass production is set to start soon although a final date is yet to be announced. KIA had unveiled its Concept GT solely for European customers. Hence, its formal introduction to production lineup is not quite astonishing.

KIA claims that the GT is powered by a turbo charged 3.3 liter petrol engine displacing 390 BHP along with 394 ft lb of torque. KIA is planning on introducing a similar engine in its flag ship – the K9 / Quoris – a luxury sedan currently slated to launch in America. Both vehicles feature an automated eight speed transmission system while internal discussions and meetings are currently on to increase power generating capability of these vehicles.

However, even if such a decision is taken in future, no such modifications will be made to the first generation vehicle. Mid level performance increase should be considered although low and high torque is sufficient for daily use. KIA is known for manufacturing practical vehicles, suited to everyday use, its GT should feature similar ethics.

KIA's Procee'd GT is capable of rivaling Volkswagen's Golf in mass markets. Hence, we are sure of KIA's ability to manufacture larger vehicles. Its products have scope for development although we are satisfied with what KIA has to offer. We would like an upgraded version of the Sorrento as well as another mid ranged SUV from KIA. If the company wants to spread out to Asian and European nations, they will have to consider a mid ranged SUV and luxury sedans, as these are always in fashion.

Customer feedback is wanting at the moment while experts are soon to get their hands on this vehicle. KIA however is not keen on its specific Sports Division at the moment such as BMW's M Division, Mercedes Benz's AMG and Audi's Quattro. However, they could come up with such a Section if time permits and their customer base is ready to accept such a change.
