KIA Plans on Showcasing Two Hot Hatches at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2013

KIA has been trying real hard to establish itself in the hot hatch industry but have been fairly unsuccessful so far. However, everything is set to change with the launch of the all new supercharged hatchbacks from KIA this June. The engine is estimated to displace 201 BHP and the vehicles to sport the engine will be the Cee'd GT and the Procee'd GT.

KIA will launch both the three and five door versions of both the vehicles initially and the vehicles are expected to be showcased at the Geneva Motor Show.
A standard 1.6 liter supercharged petrol engine will be powering the vehicles and the four cylindered engines seem to be taking power generation to a whole new level. The engine displaces 201 BHP and 195 ft lb of torque, hence making it the undisputed king of the hot hatch segment.

The vehicles which can truly compete with the Kia cousins are the Renault Sport Megane, Golf GTI and the Astra VXR. While the Golf displaces 217 BHP, the VXR and Megane churn out 276 BHP and 216 BHP respectively. The GT twins are in fact slower to the 60 MPH mark from 0, as compared to the Vauxhall Astra and the GTC SRi.

The GT twins feature a six speed manual transmission system mated to the engine, while featuring front wheel drive. The twins feature standard 18 inch rims and the suspension has been revamped as a result of which the vehicles are stable. While the Cee'd features a lowered body height, there have been no such modifications on the Procee'd. The Cee'd also features a larger front bumper as compared to the Procee'd or its predecessor and this modifies the entire look of the vehicle.

The tail lamps feature heavy sculptures while the LED lamps help build up a general rear lamp. The cabin features Recaro sports seat with red stitching and the general red theme works well with the exterior of the vehicle. The alloyed pedals and sports rims also look good on the vehicle and an optional GT brand trim level is available for customers to install.

KIA has installed more power in the Cee'd and the Procee'd and this has its successive effect on the ride quality and handling of the vehicle. The vehicles have more power than their predecessor and that is a positive aspect for performance lovers. Even though KIA has not confirmed the price, experts believe the vehicles to start from an estimated £22,000 for the base model of the Procee'd, while the base model of the five doors Cee'd is expected to cost close to £24,000.

KIA wants to design the production model of the Cee'd and the Procee'd in a similar manner as the prototype and work is on to put on the final touches to the vehicle. Mechanically, the vehicles are perfect on road, although KIA has to test the final fuel economy and performance figures before the cars are officially unveiled later this year.
