Kia plans on a redesigned Sorento KX2
|   Sunday, January 13, 2013
Kia Motors have planned on a major facelift for the Kia Sorento, barely three years after the vehicle was first launched in the market. The mechanical components have been redesigned but the external features have mostly been left untouched. The 2013 Kia Sorento is based on a whole new platform and the ride height of the vehicle has been reduced by 10 mm. The tail light and nose have been changed and this is what seems after the first look has been revealed.

The chassis is 18 percent more torsion stiffer than the predecessor and the ride is more comfortable and stiffer than before. Kia however says that the life span of the vehicle has not been altered in any way. The Kia Sorento features many of the mechanical changes borrowed from the Hyundai Santa Fe and this is going to help the vehicle in being more pocket friendly.

The two wheels driven, five seated variant of the Sorento has already been stopped in the production line and this vehicle hardly managed to sell. The price of the Sorento has also been upped and the interior has received a new phase of life. The quality of the materials used in the Sorento is quite high and the overall trim level has been bettered.

The price of the Sorento is at par with that of its younger cousin, the Sport Age and the vehicle has also been reducing sales of the lower range of the Sorento lineup. The vehicle is slightly bigger than its predecessor and the suspension settings are quite visible. The third row of seats is more spacious due to the enhanced suspension settings and overall, the Sorento is a much better deal than its predecessor.

At close to £30,000, the Sorento is a good deal and now measuring at 4.7 meters, the increased wheelbase of the vehicle is more acceptable in the current market conditions. The 2.2 liter engine displaces a massive 194 BHP and being a diesel, it is quite noisy. However, the engine noise fades away once the engine is warmed up and the engine vibrations are not felt inside the cabin at disturbing levels.

Although the engine is not as refined as one would expect off a Mercedes Benz or BMW however, the standard is pretty decent. Power steering is an important addition to this vehicle and the Kia Sorento is quite good to ride and handles quite efficiently. The hydraulic assistance to the steering wheel betters the overall ride quality and is an important feature.

The Kia Sorento KX 2 makes a great deal in the market and this vehicle is popular with the group of people who want to use this vehicle for the commercial purpose. The Sorento was never a favorable ride for private players or for personal use and this aspect could change with the launch of the 2013 Sorento. Kia also expects to showcase this vehicle at the upcoming Detroit Motor Show and this vehicle is expected to turn heads.
