Kia Exibits in Paris: The New Sorento, Rio And Venga Facelift
|   Wednesday, October 01, 2014
Kia will exhibit at the Paris Motor Show the European version of the new Sorento generation. Along with the new SUV there will be facelifts for Rio and Venga, and a concept based on the Optima named T-Hybrid.

Kia will attach particular importance to the Paris Motor Show, scheduled to open its doors in October. The Korean manufacturer will unveil three new models, including two world premieres.

First on the list is the new Sorento, which has already made its debut on the market in South Korea.
It will be brought on the Old Continent too, where it will undergo minor changes. The design – envisioned in the Namyang brand studio and completed in Frankfurt and California - is inspired by the Cross GT concept, which Kia introduced at the Chicago Auto Show last year. Also, the Kia Classic grille changes its form and turns into a modern one, more suitable for the basic Sorento concept.

The front optical blocks are completely different, with the taillights completing the offer in this area. Do not forget that the Korean SUV profile gained dynamism through increased length (an extra 9.5 cm) and adopting a somewhat plunged ceiling element which transforms the Sorento from a solid into a fluid model.

About the European engine range there is no information, but we can expect the offer to include both 2.4-liter gasoline engines, as well as the 2.0 and 2.2-liter CRDI diesel.

Another novelty expected in Paris is the facelift for the Rio model. The subcompact will suffer visible aesthetic changes. These include a new front spoiler, a new grille inspired by the Sorento and revised rims.

The interior will also be improved. The list of novelties will bring a new sound system, a navigation system with new maps and more chrome inserts, designed to provide fresh air. The European range of engines will include units with outputs ranging from 75 hp to 109 hp.

Along with the Rio model, Kia exposes at Paris the Venga facelift. The little MPV is scheduled to provide important visual changes, including a new front grille, a revised front bumper, LED daytime running lights, and taillights with the same LED technology.

The interior receives a series of black metal inserts, a new center console, and a heated steering wheel, found on the options list.
The engine range will include diesel and gasoline units between 1.4 and 1.6 liters, capable of putting out between 77 HP and 128 HP. They can be connected to the manual gearbox with five or six steps, or one automatic with four speeds.

The new Kia Optima T-Hybrid Concept comes to foresee the future of the Asian manufacturer in terms of propulsion systems. The concept based on the Optima is composed of a 1.7-liter CRDi turbodiesel engine and a small electric motor.

According to South Korean officials, the hybrid assembly will provide increased power by 15 to 20 percent compared to the value developed by the diesel unit. For the moment these are the only details provided by the car maker regarding the Optima Hybrid T-Concept.
