Kahn Design Switches To 6x6 With The Defender Flying Huntsman
|   Tuesday, March 17, 2015
Kahn Design, the British tuning house, presented their image of the future Flying Huntsman 6x6. It is an exhibit at the Geneva Motor Show, and is a seriously modified version of a Land Rover Defender.

The prototype that is exposed is code named "Mission 1". It is equipped with a V8 LS3 engine displacing 6.3 liters and which provides about 430 hp. The unit has General Motors origins and is teamed with an automatic transmission which engages the Flying Huntsman's six wheels.
But the changes did not stop there.
The model has benefited from improvements to the chassis and the brake system with exterior styling inspired by the company's aggressive Chelsea Truck Company Defenders.

Adapting to the 6x6 system was done by lengthening the body with 1,200 millimeters, and widening it by 150 mm. The difference in length comes from a 400 mm extension to the bonnet and an 800 mm extension to the rear cabin. The Defender's windscreen was reshaped, also the front and rear doors were lengthened and a full panoramic roof extends all the way from the B pillars to the rear.

On the interior, those at Kahn prefer not to reveal all the aces in the hole before the official presentation, but the British promise a panoramic sunroof for the entire length of the ceiling. Kahn Design has already on offer a model called Flying Huntsman, which is a V8 version of the Defender enriched with premium materials on board.

Overall, the result is a model that has superior performance to any road SUV, according to Kahn Design. Kahn Design says in a statement "this modern British icon would be equally comfortable outrunning any roadgoing SUV".At the same time the off-road performance should also be impressive. This is possible considering that it can maintain all-wheel drive configuration, and by the introduction of locking differentials that can withstand the new power of the engine.

The British company says that other changes to Flying Huntsman 6x6were considered, such as providing armored variants. But until then the people from Khan are working on developing a production variant. The exhibit, which is presented at the 2015 edition of the Geneva Motor Show is only a prototype.

Kahn Design also has a Range Rover Sport 400 LE, a Range Rover Evoque RS250, and a Land Rover Defender 90 Chelsea Wide Track on show in Geneva.
Kahn Design said they will have internal discussions to determine a production schedule for a vehicle with up to five series versions. This program includes planned versions with four or six wheels, as well as a choice of hard-top plus pickup options.

Khan Design have likewise planned armored versions, covering the B4, B6, B6 + and B7 categories from the armor classification catalog.
Although the starting price has not been revealed, it is quite likely the 6x6 version will be priced significantly higher compared with the Flying Huntsman four-wheel version.
