Just What The World Needed - A Carefully Sculpted, Well-Mannered Off-Roader BMW X5
|   Thursday, September 05, 2013
Cars have become something that is necessity. Without them we are uncertain and incomplete in today's world. This is nature of today's people. They want an ultra luxurious car with huge horse power along with silly and velvety features. Most of them prefer Ferrari, Lamborghini and other automobile giants such as Ford or GMC. But BMW which is one of the most popular, exotic, mid-sized car makers is never out of the race. Although people recognize it due to its sedan models like the smoking M5 and BMW 3 Series but it's SUVs (Sport Utility Vehicle) also has targeted a huge market.
Exclusively the jewel-like BMW X5 has been a major success since its first release in 1999.

The new BMW X5 is a SAV (Sports Activity Vehicle) which is step farther from the old-fashioned SUV. The word is that the new BMW X5 has shed some weight and is about 200 pounds lighter than its predecessors. It comes with a choice of two gasoline engines; one is a 4.4 litre twin-turbocharged V-8 whereas the other is a 3.0 litre single-turbocharged engine which is as quiet as wind. BMW claims that this turbocharged beast can attain a speed of 60 mph in merely 6.2 seconds. To handle 445 horse power and 480 lb-ft of torque the new BMW X5 is provided with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This car will be launched with AWD (All Wheel Drive) and for the first time rear-wheel-drive version.

Being a modern BMW It is claimed to be ultra sophisticated in terms of driver information system. It features a navigation system with real-time traffic information and drive options such as "Eco Pro", "Sport+" or simply the "Normal" modes.

The cockpit also packs a number of iconic features such as the LED screens, super-comfortable seats and 1200-watt, 16-speaker Harman/Kardon system which provides enough bang to lighten up a party. The Body Work of X5 is quite impressive with the new front grills and aerodynamically sculpted front, back and side panels.

It is good to hear that like the current model, the next edition to the BMW X5 will be having Green Technology.
What did we miss in the new BMW X5? Fortunately we did not miss allot in the new BMW X5 but the features we found unattractive in X5 are the unnecessary option of third row seats , challenging iDrive infotainment program and lack of interior space. BMW X5 has to compete against SUV giants such as Audi Q7, Land Rover LR4, Lexus GX460 and Mercedes ML. But when we compare the prices of BMW X5 with the above mentioned SUVs, it suddenly looses it charm. The engine performance could be a little improved along with an innovation in the BMW body design which could have given the new SAV a spark. I think it is the perfect time to introduce a range of SAVs which are totally powered by renewable sources of energy.

Now in its third generation the BMW X5 continues to be one of the top SUV for those who do enjoy driving. Its pricing isn't for the faint of heart but a fair price for an array of safety, high level of passenger comfort and refined engines.
