Jaguar To Build F-Type of Project 7 Production Version, After The 567 HP Prototype Presented At Goodwood
|   Thursday, June 26, 2014
The Jaguar F-Type roadster has reached the hands of the Special Projects Division of the company, and was converted into the F-Type Project 7. That prototype was presented at the Festival of Speed at Goodwood, and is the most powerful and the fastest street Jaguar ever built, equipped with 567 hp, and 0 to 100 km / h sprint of 3.9 seconds.

"The Project 7 is already faster than the F-Type Coupe R on track. We expect it to be the fastest Jaguar ever around the Nurburgring, a lap time will come later" Paul Newson, Director of Special Vehicle Operations said.

Since the presentation at Goodwood in 2013 sources within Jaguar have disclosed to Auto Express, that the brand of Coventry is preparing a limited number of F-Type Project 7 models. About 250 units will be made, and the first models will reach customers in the second half of next year.

The motorization is a turbocharged V8 engine, displacing 5.0 liters, which offers 25 hp in addition compared to the most powerful version offered so far by Jaguar. The eight-speed automatic transmission has also been recalibrated.

The series model will retain the aesthetic features of the concept presented last year, inspired in turn by the D-Type model. Thus, the whole back has an asymmetrical "hump", the hood has a transverse stripe, a shorter windshield, the front bumper has an integrated splitter, the rear bumper has an air diffuser, and the bodywork also enjoys a set of larger side skirts, all these elements having been made from carbon fiber. Due to huge spoiler, the F-Type Project 7 provides an aerodynamic downforce 177 percent greater than that provided by an F-Type V8 S Roadster at full speed.

In contrast to the concept, the model will have two seats and may be convertible, although the system will be operated by hand and not electrically. Optionally, seatbelts fastened at four points as well as numerous interior leather trims will be offered. The standard model received Alcantara leather for certain areas.

Folks at Jaguar have specified that only four colors are available for the special order: red, white, blue and green. However, there is considerable scope for personalization, given the nature of this model. The specificity of this model is that it is constructed manually by the department of special projects.
Ian Callum, Jaguar Design Director, will sign a special metal plate that will be placed on each F-Type Project 7 copy, increasing the value of this model over the years due to the presence of that plate.

At the Goodwood Festival of Speed (26 to 29 June 2014), we will be able see other low-volume and high-performance products such as the 542 hp Range Rover Sport SVR. Special Vehicle Operations consultant Harry Metcalfe said that other such models are ready to see daylight right after 2015 comes around.
Jaguar has confirmed a price of around 135,000 British pounds (about 169,000 Euro).
