Jaguar Plans on Showcasing the Project 7 at Good Wood this Weekend
|   Thursday, July 18, 2013
The latest big cat to stir up the market recently is the Jaguar Project 7. This F4 Convertible based proto type is powered by a four cylindered engine displacing approximately 650 BHP, which is transferred efficiently to the wheels via a four wheel drive platform. Experts have labeled this design as one of the most enthralling and dynamic from Jaguar yet and this is what makes this car highly awaited.

The Jaguar Project 7 is a track inspired street legal sports car with the power and dynamics to compete on track with any sports car in its segment.
If driving is your main priority, the Project 7 should be the perfect companion. Jaguar has designed this vehicle to be a cruiser which draws power from a super charged 5.0 liter engine displacing 542 BHP along with 501 ft lb of torque.

This engine can be currently seen on the Jaguar XKR-S and the XJR although the tuned engine displaces 54 BHP and 41 ft lb of torque more than the current breed of cars. The suspension has also been lowered by 10 mm and this as a result enhances the handling and aerodynamics of the car. Acceleration from 0 - 60 MPH hence comes in close to 4.1 seconds while 50 - 75 MPH is achieved within 2.4 seconds.
Jaguar has electronically limited the top speed of the Project 7 to 186 MPH although the production version could increase the top speed based on customer feedback on the proto type. Although the proto type is not available for test drives, Jaguar is providing a detailed description of the feel behind the wheels and this should help experts decode the performance of this vehicle.

The performance is better than expected and the sound and sheer urgency of the engine has impressed the engineers working on the Project 7. A carbon fiber splitter up front along with a rear diffuser, redesigned front bumper, low windscreen and a fixed rear wing have been added to this car to enhance both dynamics and performance and these should make the difference expected from this car.

A roll roof has been installed in place of the general roof structure while a single racing seat with harness has been placed to keep the driver in place at the moment. Although the production version is expected to have a sportier interior, the proto type has been kept as simple as possible. The blue paint scheme on the exterior has been inspired from the 1956 - 1957 Le Mans winning Jaguar and this evokes nostalgia in the people.

The Jaguar Project 7 is making quite a stir this year at Good Wood even though this year is special as Porsche completes 50 years in the market. The F Type coupe is also on the cards although Jaguar is working intently on the Project 7 at the moment as the CX 75 Hyper car project was recently shelved. This project was termed impractical although people wanted Jaguar to manufacture this car at least on request.
