Jaguar Looking Forward to Unveiling the Project 7 this Weekend
|   Monday, July 29, 2013
Jaguar has announced that they will showcase the Project 7, a, F Type based convertible design, at the Good Wood Festival of Speed this weekend. The Project 7 will borrow heavily from the Jaguar D and F Types and this raises hopes that Jaguar will finally be launching an extreme version of the F Type. This hardcore model is powered by a 650 BHP displacing, four-wheel drive based engine although details of the specifications are yet to be revealed.

The Jaguar Project 7 is a race car inspired design which draws power from a super charged 5.0 liter engine displacing 542 BHP along with 501 ft lb of torque while a larger engine is also available as stated previously. The engine has been lifted off the Jaguar XKR S and the XJR, although sufficient modifications have been made to the vehicle to give them their characteristic appeal.

The suspension has been lowered and this enhances handling by a great deal. The Project 7 feels confident on tarmac in and around corners and precision driving has been redefined owing to the latest modification. Jaguar claims that their latest vehicle is capable of travelling at a top speed of 186 MPH while accelerating from 0 - 60 MPH within 4.1 seconds.

The car can travel from 50 – 75 MPH within 2.4 seconds and this proves the performance figures this car is capable of reaching. The exhaust note further proves that this is a performance vehicle and the sheer ruckus created by the engine is enough to pull people out of its path. Extensive use of carbon fiber is evident on the car and the wind screen, bumpers and body panels have been carefully crafted out to give this vehicle a very aerodynamic feel.

The Project 7 has been a highly anticipated vehicle from Jaguar and this is creating headlines once again, right before the actual unveil a week from now. The Jaguar Project 7 could inspire race cars and production vehicles capable of taking on the Porsche 911 head on and this could even be the flag ship model from the company.

The recently unveiled Jaguar CX75 Concept is a range topper, although Jaguar confirms that the car will not be brought into production as it is not practical considering the manufacturing costs. The Project 7 could be Jaguar's way of dealing with a much needed new car and the super charged V8 engine block powering the vehicle completes this story. Jaguar is yet to announce whether a road going vehicle will be based on the Project 7 although it is known that this car has a host of potential.

Insiders however reveal that Jaguar is aiming at aggressive marketing strategies in future and this needs aggressive vehicles to be marketed. The next generation GT, R and RS brands are hence expected to pack in more power and this is definitely good news for the speed demons and Jaguar fanatics alike. Official word is however yet to arrive although the current news seems to be practical enough to be applied.
