Jaguar Land Rover Working on Revealing the Latest RS Badge Vehicles
|   Wednesday, August 07, 2013
Engineers at Jaguar Land Rover are working on the ultimate sporty version of the latest Sport and the Evoque and these vehicles are set to be given the RS badge. While the Evoque RS could launch by the end of the current year, Land Rover has not mentioned the launch date of the Sport RS. A Sport RS test mule was recently spotted running test laps at Nurburgring and judging by the mass camouflage of the vehicle, it is unlikely to be unveiled this year.

Both the Land Rovers are expected to be powered by a super charged version of the 5.0 liter V8 engine currently used on the Jaguar XJR and the XKR. The engine is expected to displace a minimum of 542 BHP, which equals to 39 BHP more than the current version of the vehicle. Land Rover is looking to achieve 0 – 60 MPH acceleration within 4.5 seconds and judging by the size of the vehicle, it is quite a challenge.

Even though both the RS models are well disguised, it can be clearly seen that both vehicles have a redesigned bumper with fog lamps being replaced by huge air intakes. The lower skid plate and the rear bumpers have also been redesigned. This gives both vehicles a renewed appeal.

The suspension and dampers settings have been changed while bigger springs along with an anti roll cage have been installed on the vehicle. 21 inch standard rims are expected on both vehicles and the raised standard will definitely help give the SUVs a poised stand. A powerful braking system is also expected to make its way into the design. A turbo charged version of the Sport RS is expected quite soon although it should be available by the middle of 2014.

The Evoque is currently powered by a 2.0 liter turbo charged petrol engine which will be overhauled. The idea of an RS was first launched two years back and the project has been on since. It is finally time for the masterpiece to be unveiled. Both the Land Rover Evoque and the Sport were best selling models in their respective classes and hence the decision was taken to modify these two.

Even though the exterior is expected to remain basically unchanged, the car is up for a few minor touch ups. This is a very subtle looking aggressive vehicle and every time the throttle is opened, the car zooms past the mile posts revealing the true power of the engine. The RS models are always known for their performance and looks and both the Sport and Evoque are lined up for massive performance.

The hype in the market regarding both these vehicles is growing by the days and plans to unveil the vehicle this year have fuelled things further. This is one of the most anticipated launches of the year and Land Rover should plan big before the revelation. We will be waiting to update you further when Jaguar Land Rover unveils further details regarding both vehicles.
