|   Tuesday, March 26, 2013
Jaguar land Rover has confirmed plans to launch the Range Rover Sport at the New York Motor Show. The vehicle is set to be unveiled at the start of the event and will be taken around in a parade through Manhattan on the 25th of March, a day before the official unveil. Jaguar Land Rover had revealed official images of the Sport before and the final vehicle is expected to be close to what the images depict.

The Range Rover Sport is being showcased in New York as it is the singular market in America at the moment where this vehicle is commercially viable.
The current model of the Range Rover Sport is the best selling Range Rover at the moment and with the launch of its predecessor, Jaguar Land Rover hopes to continue with the successful stint.

The basic structure of the Range Rover Sport is similar to its predecessor but few modifications have been made such as wing mounted vents which enhance the overall look of the vehicle. The Sport also borrows styling cues from the Range Rover Evoque – the most stylish Range Rover at the moment. This model of the Range Rover Sport is set to be the most advanced Range Rover till date.

The Range Rover Sport is the best example of technological innovations mated to stylish design and engineering marvel. The new Range Rover Sport is based on the all aluminum, bonded and riveted Premium Lightweight Architecture based MK4 platform. This is a reputed platform from Jaguar Land Rover and will be manufactured along with the PLA structure in West Midlands, Solihull. The all aluminum platform should make the Range Rover Sport lighter by 300 kg as compared to its predecessor which was based on the heavy duty T5 platform, found on the Land Rover Discovery 4.

The Range Rover Sport is powered by a V6 diesel engine, while the vehicle weighs 2160 kg on a whole. People who have seen the Range Rover Sport say that this vehicle is sportier than its predecessor and is expected to be visually different from that of its predecessor. The vehicle will sport a raked roof line along with deeper side body lines along with a shorter rear end over hang and a sharper tail and nose end.

The Sport is set to feature seven seat options along with the general five seated model and should compete with the Mercedes Benz M Class along with the upcoming BMW X5. To add to its appealing nature, Jaguar Land Rover has decided to introduce an optional 2.0 liter turbo charged diesel engine to the Sport lineup.

Jaguar Land Rover is working on introducing an hybrid drive train on the upcoming Range Rover Sport model, although no final decisions have been taken as of yet. The vehicle sports the Range Rover DNA and this helps people relate to the vehicle. Specifications related to detailed mechanical components or prices have not been revealed and this information is expected post the New York Motor Show.
