Jaguar Land Rover planning on re-launching the 3 Series

Jaguar Land Rover is all set to give the green signal to the light weight and compact rear wheel drive models in the sedan range that could boost car sales by a considerable margin. However, Jaguar plans on developing and designing the segment in such a manner that it does not pose as a direct rival to the Audi A4 or the BMW 3 Series.

The engineering work on the new drive train is sure to set up Jaguar as a leading German car maker and the lightweight aluminum chassis with the frugal four cylinder engine aims at the next generation vehicles from Jaguar Land Rover.
Annual global market sales in the automotive sector is closing two million vehicles across all make and model and Jaguar plans on cashing in on this opportunity.

Jaguar has a sales figure of 60,000 units per year and this is doubled when the sales figures of Land Rover are added to the final tally. The first generation vehicle to develop out of this drive train will be the XJ and the XF models and Jaguar is confident that these vehicles will do well in the market. Jaguar is working on the new lightweight platform known as the Premium Lightweight Architecture or PLA which has debuted in the Range Rover Mk4.

Jaguar finally looks forward to increasing production capacity and the factory at Castle Bromwich is finally looking towards production at full capability. The 3 Series is the probable choice for inserting the platform initially and Jaguar plans on following the most obvious route to success. The 3 Series is the hot selling property of Jaguar as the cars have the perfect blend of power, performance and luxury.

The 3 Series records the highest number of sales and the vehicles are quite fuel efficient as well. Audi has spent two decades in developing its modern technological platform and Jaguar Land Rover is slowly making progress in the positive direction. The company is also making analytical progress in studying the marketing strategy of its rivals and the firm sees this as constructive rivalry.

Company insiders hint at the fact that there could be optional body structures for the 3 Series and a few initial concepts range from cabrioles and coupes to estates. This however means that the cross over that Jaguar had been planning on launching has been pushed back for the time being. Even though the SUV market is growing the quickest, the market for sedans is still the largest and this played a major role in Jaguar deciding to introduce the new platform on the 3 Series.

The vehicle needs to be downsized initially and will feature aluminum construction. Safety features are expected to be enhanced and technologically the 3 Series is expected to turn out to be better than the current generation. The Mercedes Benz CLA is in direct competition to the 3 Series although Jaguar is designing its vehicles to outperform the CLA. Jaguar Land Rover is at their growing curve and the company expects to hit it large with the new 3 Series.
