Jaguar is looking forward to launching a BMW 3 Series rivaling sedan
|   Tuesday, December 04, 2012
Jaguar is planning on a series rival to the BMW 3 Series and this small segment vehicle is the company's top most priority at the moment, the brand's Global Director, Adrian Hallmark has declared to reporters from an automotive magazine. Although the SUV market is on a rise, the market for sedans is still twice as huge and as a result Jaguar is focusing on sedans at the moment.

The car makers are focusing on the cross over segment on the moment as sister firm Land Rover already has a lineup of niche SUVs to its credit.
Although the SUV market is more lucrative than the market for sedans, sedans have their own criteria and Jaguar being a pioneer in premium sedans, the company prefers designing sedans to SUVs.

The major players all prefer sedans over SUVs and it is for a particular reason. Profit is not the only motto for Jaguar and that is the sole reason the brand is focusing on the new XJ and XK Series, which are due for an early 2013 launch. In fact Jaguar is planning on introducing the al wheel drive platform on all future Jaguar launches. The XF Series is expected to benefit the most from all wheel drive as it is meant for terrains which are not exactly very smooth.

With a 3.0 liter V6 engine, the Jaguar XF Series is set to be a rage with customers. The 2013 XF Series vehicles will be the first XF ever to be mated to an all wheel drive power train and this will be available solely as left hand drive, therefore customers in the UK will be disappointed at first. However, this vehicle will be available in US and Canada and the viability of a Europe launch is being probed by the top officials.

The all wheel drive technology has not been designed for right hand drive at the moment and that is the cause behind the delayed launch in Europe. However, tests are still being conducted on the new engine and drive train and the project is still in its basic stages. Jaguar insiders are unwilling to comment on the topic at the moment and any further development will be formally announced. Tabloids are keeping a detailed track of the proceedings and there is mass frenzy in the automotive sector as this will be Jaguar's foray into the field of all wheel drive vehicles.

Jaguar is currently taking notes of vehicles featuring right hand all wheel drive and the final results are far from achieved. This is the incubation period of the idea and the engineers want to get the basics right in order to get the best results. This move has been widely applauded in Canada where icy conditions require all wheel drive to tackle. Customers can now freely opt for a Jaguar featuring all wheel drive. As of now, the company is focusing on the XF Series apart from an SUV, which is rumored to be in its testing stages at the moment.
