Iveco is trying to dominate the Dakar challenge once again
|   Saturday, January 05, 2013
The Dakar challenge is one of the most impressive and gruelling off road races that have been ever created. The Dakar challenge invites squads of rally trucks to compete over some of the roughest terrains South America. Many of the leading rally truck manufacturing brands from all over the world compete in this race. Iveco is planning to compete in the Dakar challenge in the coming year, that is, 2013.

The current champions of the Dakar Challenge for the year 2012 are Team De Roy and Iveco combined.
They will try to defend their championship in 2013 as they try to conquer the tough terrains that start in Peru, make its way through Argentina and then finally end in Chile. Covering a huge distance, the race is one of the most competitive races taking place off road.

In 2013, Iveco will put 5 rally trucks to the test as they compete in this race. The five cars that will be competing are four Iveco New Trakkers and one Iveco Power Star. As mentioned before, the car will be driven by Team De Roy. This is a joint venture for Team De Roy and Iveco, and in their previous venture they have been successful, so it is hoped that they will succeed this time also.

The five drivers in control of each of the five vehicles will be Gerard De Roy, Hans Stacey, Jo Adua, Rene Kuipers and Miki Biasion all of these five are well known across the globe for their skills and determination. They have proven their capabilities in many previous occasions also and this time they will prove their worth again.

Keeping in mind the popularity of the Dakar challenge, Iveco has made a new plan. The race is not widely displayed as the media coverage of the race is not very wide spread. The race is not very well known to the common men, although it is highly popular among those who keep knowledge of motor vehicles and their details. So Iveco has combined with an Italian radio station known as Radio Deejay. They will telecast a show called ‘You are in the Dakar'. This will spread the reach of the race amongst common people and also give wide publicity to Iveco.

All the high profile events of the race will be covered by the Radio Deejay officials, and using the popularity of the radio station, the race will be much better known after the show is put on air. Taking this opportunity, a filmmaker will be making a documentary based on the behind the scenes footage and an interactive interview of Team De Roy and Iveco. This increases the media coverage of the Dakar challenge manifolds.

To increase the coverage of the race even more, a website has been designed. The website has already been launched and will be updated after a regular interval of time. Most of the new generation comes to gain knowledge of the world from the Internet. So the launching of the website will help this cause.
