Induction Battery Charging While Cruising is the latest technology for future electric vehicles
|   Wednesday, September 25, 2013
It might sound a bit odd and perhaps too futuristic but it is exactly what the engineers have been working on for quite a while now – the induction charging without any cords. This extremely futuristic technology will be implemented by Drayson Racing Technology and Qualcomm.

Although the two mentioned companies are not so famous and they dropped their initial production ten years ago, some of the most updated smart phones still feature some of the already designed types of technology.
And it might be true that it is not an interest for every company to become famous, it is the case of Qualcomm which has decided to keep the discreet position and act right behind the scenes.

The current design and technology of the Formula E seems very interesting as it has been designed as an entire whole, practically starting from 0.
Who would have thought, at the beginning of the ‘90s, of electric racing? Nowadays not only that it's all possible but also it seems to have a development tendency. However, electric racing has proven to be very challenging as the car can actually resist no more than 10 minutes on the track until it needs another charging.

Qualcomm and Drayson seem to have found the solution! The technology that they have developed includes the battery charger which would be able to be included right in the track and offer an uninterrupted type of race. This should actually be regarded as a very admirable action because going green means also thinking about the fuel waste on the racing track too.

Yet, the developed technology is still a project and it waits for implication from other parts too as there are a couple of tests which should be run in order to evaluate the efficiency of transferring the technology into highway charging for the EV models such as Tesla Model S or Nissan Leaf.

One example of this intelligent concept is the Infiniti Concept LE which was released and cancelled in 2012 and it featured an OEM application.
The future of the car manufacturing or at least the desired featured is that ideally world where you would not have to plug in your car's battery at all. Or at least the technology should overcome the fear of running out of power before being able to arrive home. The EV charging might be able to make a change if it received the chance to get implemented.

It seems that the Qualcomm technology is already featured by a large range of household technologies and it can definitely be taken to another level. Yet, there is still a small issue with the slowness of the induction charging which seems to be quite limited to very low wattage.

But everyone would really love the idea of wireless chargers and system of pads and the engineers are now working on the next move: charging while moving. Thus, we are all very eager to see where the Halo WEVC will get and when exactly will we see it happen on Formula E racing series.
