Indian government to hike the road tax for luxury cars

Recently the government of India has announced to increase road tax for luxury cars. The government is soon going to bring this plan into effect. On a recent telecast this information is announced among people. The government also announced recently that their primary aim towards this hike is to raise the fund for the development of the roads.

Some of the news channel claiming that hike in the road tax will be applicable to those cars only that are imported in India by the owners.
On the other side some news channels are sure that this hike is applicable to all such cars in India who are having an overall amount of $80, 000 in India. Government has not made this clear till now.

According to some of the recent news, this hike in road tax for luxury cars may be beneficial for the people, however may affect the sales of luxury or imported cars in India. The government has hike the road tax by 3 percent soon. The official date has not announced by the government, but according to some news it will come in affect during next year.
According to Indian media, government of India may hike the road tax by up to 2 percent for those cars that are manufactured in India. On the other side for cars those which are imported, the road tax will be hiked by 2 percent only.

Recently it has officially announced by the Indian government that the hike in the road tax for luxury cars will bring a lot of amount of money. This money can highly help to improve the condition of roads in India, and also through this money the government will bring lot of road projects in different parts of the country. The government told that the luxury car owners have to feel proud on themselves that they are contributing in the development of the country.

Indian media had also given information on the time for which this tax is to be paid to the government. According to them, the road tax must be paid by the luxury car owner to the government after every six months. The luxury automakers has advised Indian government to collect road tax from luxury car owners only once in a year. The government has not yet announced that whether they consider this advice or not.

Some luxury automakers has recently informed media that they highly expect from the central government of India to not to consider the hike in road tax. According to them, they are not in favor of this policy of the government as this can be a reason of less demand of their cars in India.
Recently the government has hike the sales tax on cars and now another hike on same may stop other luxury automakers to not to launch their cars in India. This was the statement of a leading automaker of the world. The automaker also advised Indian government to keep the percentage of hike as low as that they can.
