Hyundai Showcases the i30 1.6 CRDi 3door
|   Monday, April 08, 2013
Hyundai has showcased the three door model of the second generation i30. This is the last body change that this vehicle is expected to feature on this model and the design has been fairly successful as far as the market response is concerned. The three door car has better ergonomics than the five door counterpart and this gives the i30 a renewed appeal.

Apart from the removal of the extra doors, the i30 features minor cosmetic changes apart from a new grille, additional fog lamps, as well as a renewed roof line.

Hyundai had been trying hard to introduce a new fling to this vehicle and these modifications work perfectly as far as the aesthetics is concerned. The i30 is powered by a 1.6 liter diesel engine displacing 126 BHP. The engine is mated to a six speed automatic transmission system – manual optional – and the company claims that the vehicle will return close to 55 MPG.

Although initially it was expected to return 68.9 MPG, experts claim that this vehicle should return close to 55 on a practical scale. The Hyundai i30 packs in a 55 liter tank and calculating the average fuel efficiency, the i30 should be able to travel close to 600 miles on a full tank of fuel.
The overall ride quality is near perfect and the i30 is high on traction.

Therefore, corners can be taken more confidently. However, the steering wheel is not as responsive as it could have been although it is quite precise. The seats and driving position is at the optimum level and are quite comfortable although the controls could have been laid out in a better manner to ease out the job of the driver.

The boot space is comfortably large and there is quite an amount of space for adults at the back of the vehicle. This is by far the most stylish i30 Hyundai has designed and it is a practical machine. Therefore, it should be the perfect choice for people willing to purchase the i30. It is highly fuel efficient and performs like a stable sports car.

This vehicle is worthy to be a mainstream competitor to the Vauxhall Astra, Ford Focus or the Volkswagen Golf. However, if you need to carry passengers on a daily routine, the five door model of the i30 seems to be a practical proposition. However, if you are more interested about the look and feel of the vehicle, then the three door version is what you need. Priced at £19,990 the i30 is priced competitively and performance wise, this vehicle is a killer.

The car is capable of accelerating from 0 – 60 MPH in 10.9 seconds while supporting a top speed of 122 MPH. Optimum power is available at 4000 RPM and this is the limit when the engine red lines. However, like all vehicles from Hyundai, the i30 is keen on being pushed to its very limits and this is what attracts the sports enthusiasts to make a move for the i30.
