Hyundai Presents New Genesis G90 - The Rival For German Luxury Models
|   Thursday, January 14, 2016
To compete with premium brands those from Hyundai launched the Genesis brand, which will embody luxury and sumptuousness executed in a Korean fashion with the main targets being Audi, BMW and Mercedes-Benz.

In Korea the new Genesis EQ900 was revealed, which will be known as Genesis G90 in other countries.
The elegant exterior design forms were designed and built by Hyundai's design department, called Prestige Design Division. The whole process was controlled by chief designer Peter Schreyer.

On the outside, the Korean flagship reminds us of many models, especially the new BMW 7 Series at the headlights, and the bottom line of the silhouette of the Bentley Mulsanne, and partly of Mercedes-Benz's S-Class W222 regarding the mangle, side and rear windows. Overall, the model inspires an aristocratic air, due to more chrome elements, much more sumptuous than its predecessor, the Hyundai Equus.

From an aesthetic point of view, the Genesis G90 integrates an elongated bonnet, ending in front with a generously sized hexagonal grille. Chrome elements further accentuate the category, which includes the G90, and the wheels of significant size end the painting made by the Genesis's designers. In the back we see large taillights and metal accents also meant to contribute to the premium look.

The inside images are not very clear, but we can already predict that the new Genesis G90 will have a quality interior with lots of wood inlays and entertainment system for rear passengers with 9.2 inch displays. Multimedia system for the driver and front passenger has a 12.3 inch display.
The G90 measures 5,205 millimeters in length, 1,915 mm in width and 1,495 mm in height. The wheelbase size is equal to 3.160 millimeters. The South Korean sedan is longer by 107 mm, wider by 13 mm and 28 mm taller than a BMW 7 Series new generation. The Bavarian flagship wheelbase is 90 millimeters shorter.

The huge space on board is due to the long wheelbase of 3160 mm. The total length of 5,205 mm is 41 mm shorter than that of Mercedes-Benz S-Class Long W222. However, proportionally, the back door seems to be too high. According to the Koreans, the new Genesis G90 offers the best soundproofing in its class, and the best technology concerning the safety.

The new Genesis G90 will be offered with three engines to choose from: V6 gasoline engine 3.8-liter GDI (315 hp) will accelerate this mastodon from 0 to 100 km / h in 6.9 seconds, the huge V8 engine 5.0 liter GDI (425 hp) will do the same in 5.7 seconds and the new turbo-aspirated V6 engine, 3.3-liter T-GDI (370 hP) will accelerate in 6.2 seconds.

In South Korea the G90 will employ the autonomous driving system on the highway that works based on cruise control and traffic monitoring function (distance between cars, speed etc.). Moreover, the sedan is equipped with front seats that can be adjusted electrically in 22 ways and the driver's seat can adapt to the shape of the person who sits on it.

It must be said that, according to Hyundai, by 2020 the Genesis range will be supplemented with six other cars.
