Hyundai Intrado Concept: Korean Hydrogen Powered SUV Debuts In March
|   Saturday, March 01, 2014
Hyundai has revealed the Intrado concept, which is a vision for meeting the mobility needs of the future. The Hyundai Intrado Concept will debut at the Geneva Motor Show on March 4, 2014.

Being more than just a design exercise, the Intrado demonstrates Hyundai's belief that advanced technologies and intelligent design can be combined to more effectively interact with the driver and passengers. Hyundai Intrado Concept is one of the surprises prepared by the Koreans for the Geneva Motor Show.
We're talking about an SUV powered by hydrogen designed by Peter Schreyer's team.

Scheduled to debut before an audience at the Geneva Motor Show, the Intrado is the result of a new approach to what customers want and expect from a car in the near future: cars that are easy to use, intuitive interaction, and able to adapt to different requirements from customers with an active life.

The exterior of the Intrado has a progressive interpretation of the "fluidic sculpture" design language, being aerodynamically efficient without unnecessary additions. The body is made of super light steel from Hyundai's factories.

The Intrado's interior is defined by a focus on usefulness and adaptability, drawing attention to advanced materials and radical construction to deliver a kind of functionality that one can see when looking at bikes high end mountain bikes. Using transparent ventilation slots and carbon fiber ornaments gives the interior a futuristic look.

Moreover, the new concept from Hyundai, serves as test bench for experimental structure of bodywork, internally developed by the manufacturer from South Korea.

The structure is described as revolutionary and is inspired by the aviation industry using alloy steel and carbon fiber for minimized weight and a high level of resistance.

The Intrado's superlight structure demonstrates Hyundai's desire to produce light but powerful cars, easy to drive and repair. The central structure is made of carbon fiber using a new manufacturing process. The strength and stiffness of the central structure allows the body panels to be constructed of the any material, giving designers flexibility. In this case, an ultra-light steel was used to improve safety in case of impact, and to reduce repair times.

Hyundai's concept car is set in motion by the new generation of fuel-cells powered by hydrogen, using a battery of 36 kWh Li-Ion. Supposedly, it will take 12.5 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km / h.

Refuelling takes only a few minutes and the Intrado provides a range of up to 600 km, the only emission being water vapor.

The Hyundai Intrado has been designed and built at the European center for research and development in Germany, with the HED-9 indicative.

Hyundai representatives had no information on the power of the electric motor of Intrado's equipment and do not have revealed the dynamic performance of the concept.

"Hyundai Intrado envisages a motoring future that encapsulates the efficiency and freedom associated with flying. I believe in the power of mobility to deliver emotional as well as physical connections and this car helps us find again the joy of discovery. Intrado shows that future cars can be relevant and exciting" said Peter Schreyer, President and CDO of Hyundai Motor Group.
