Honda sales rise by 11% in the first quarter of 2012
|   Thursday, August 09, 2012
Honda has improved its market sales statistics over the first quarter of the year, by increasing sales by 11% since January till June. The number of cars to come out of the Honda production line has been steadily increasing by 26% since the past few years.

Honda's true car sales figures are calculated, excluding the cars for rent and hence, this point towards the company's increasing fleet capacity. Car sales in March have increased by 15% since 2011, for April the number has increased by 55% and for May the numbers are up by 94%.

The British built cars from the stables of Honda are mainly behind the increase in the sales figure. The new face lifted Honda Civic being the leader of the pack. The ninth generation model of the Honda Civic is very popular with the business and family based customers.

The ninth generation of the Civic accounts for more than 10% of Honda's car sales till June 2012, almost thrice as much as in the same quarter in 2011. The corporate sector sales of Honda have increased subsequently in 2012 and the Honda CRV and the Civic are a few of the hot picks in the sector.

The new face lifted model of the Honda CRV is set to launch this September. However there has been a surge in sales prior to the new model launch. This is an unusual market phenomenon, as cars set to be re introduced in the market generally lose sales figure by a conservable margin.

This factor has made the top brass of Honda hopeful of a successful launch of the CRV this year. Over 5 Million Honda CRVs are present around the world and the numbers are still increasing. The CRV has proven to be the dark horse for Honda, as it has upped the sales figure since its launch in late 1995.

The CRV makes gliding on the asphalt look easy and the third generation of the vehicle is soon to be unveiled. This car has created a lot of hype and Honda is hopeful of a large number of initial sales. Bookings for this car are open and there is a huge list of names on it.

Honda is expecting to sell 6,000 CRVs to the world this year, including 1,500 CRVs of the new model and the initial response to the car makes the dealers hopeful. The newly developed 1.6 L i-DTEC engine is a first from Honda and is based on the Earth Dreams Technology.

A new high strength metal has been used for the chassis and hence Honda has been able to create a new, light weight version of the 1.6 L twin turbo charged diesel engine. This helps the CRV in getting quick throttle response from the engine.

The new CRV offers a new platform for measuring performance, luxury and economy. Honda has put in a lot of effort and capital behind the car's upgrade and they will definitely be expecting big returns from this vehicle.
