Honda is set to reveal the 2013 Jazz EV
|   Monday, November 19, 2012
Honda has just launched the all new battery powered Jazz EV in the United States of America and Japan. The Honda Jazz EV is a hatch back but is different from the Nissan Leaf or the Renault Zoe as it has an equal combustion level as that of any standard hatch back, although it is a hybrid. The only difference lies in the fact that the Jazz EV features a few minor platform and switchgear changes.

The vehicle has a 20 kW lithium ion powered battery feeling the electric motor in the rear end of the vehicle.
The fuel tank of the Jazz EV is situated below the front seats and this has been done to save a considerable amount of space. The rear foot wells have also been planted extra deep along with cleverly placed folding seats in the rear.

A magnetic field powered electric motor has been place under the bonnet and the engine displaces 123 BHP within the peak torque frame of 3,695 – 10,320 RPM. The vehicle is available in two distinct drive modes, normal and eco and overall it is a fuel efficient machine. While in the normal mode, the Jazz EV displaces 100 BHP; in Eco mode it does a maximum of 63 BHP.
The EV also has an on board charger and this is quite an efficient tool and can charge the battery by an overall 17 percent in just 30 minutes. The Brake servo used on the Jazz EV is also electronically run and this is available on all mainstream models. The Jazz EV features a very stable and refined engine and is very smooth on the run. In fact the transition from the petrol engine to the electric motor is undetectable unless for the indicator on the dash board.

The vehicle s very agile and this can be felt easily when the car is powered. From the first instant the vehicle feels like it wants to rip apart the asphalt. It is highly powerful considering the fact that it is a hybrid. The Jazz EV is also considered to be highly fuel efficient and return 82 MPG. This is an unconfirmed report so far and the road tests are being performed. The official figures will be launched once the tests are completed.

The Ford Focus returns 76 MPG followed by the Renault Leaf with 73 MPG. Therefore, the Jazz EV is the best one out of the three when it comes to fuel efficiency, power production and affordability. Therefore, this is a practical choice for people who want to own a machine that is high on performance, looks, comfort as well as easy to maintain and cheap to run.

This is a complete package and hence Honda is expecting high sales from the targeted market. Te vehicle is set to be launched in the UK for approximately 23,546 Pounds and the vehicle will be available fall 2013. The cost is however more than the standard hybrids in the segment and the expenditure are worth the return.
