Holden Set to Unveil the VF Series Commodore, Ute and Calais
|   Monday, February 25, 2013
Holden finally revealed the new VF Series Commodore sedan, the Ute Pickup truck and the Calais V Sports Wagon. The VF Series is the face lifted version of the VE Series and Holden has introduced a whole bunch of technologically advanced mechanisms on the new VF Series vehicles. The vehicles feature a modified exterior with a new bumper and a list of rim options.

The rear sections of most of the vehicles remain unaltered and the chrome additions mark a stark change over the VE Series.
There has been no change whatsoever on the powerhouse and the engines have been directly lifted off the VE Series. The Commodore will be available in two engine options – 3.0 and 3.6 liter V6 engines. The weight has been decreased by around 50 kg while the drag coefficient is down by 0.03 CD with 0.30 CD.

Holden claims that the 3.0 liter engine returns 35 MPG and the vehicle have the option of running on E85 bio fuel along with diesel. However, the Commodore does not sport a smaller engine option and the least powerful among the lot is the 3.0 liter V6 diesel engine. The cabin features most of the modifications and the interior from the VE Series has been completely overhauled.

Head up display is available as standard with an eight inch touchscreen and the general quality of the plastic has been improved on. Use of leather and blue LED changes the ambient on the inside and gives the vehicle an up-market feel. This is a welcome change and the refreshed cabin work is a sight for sore eyes. Additional safety measures have been taken to ensure that the VF Series is quite protected and the hard work sure pays off.

The additional safety measures include a blind spot monitor, lane departure warning and forward collision warning system and added air bags for driver and passenger safety. The exterior modifications look brilliant on the Commodore and the chrome grille is a welcome relief from the VE Series. The Commodore sedan from Holder was just entering its mid life crisis and this modification comes as a welcome relief.

Holden has however not confirmed the countries where the Commodore might be made available. However Australia could witness the vehicle as early as May 2013. America will also get to witness the VF Series Commodore sedan and the vehicle will be sold as the Chevrolet SS. Holden has big plans for the Commodore series and the company plans on spreading across to other parts of the world where General Motors has active market participation.

The VE Series vehicles from Holden acquired massive popularity in the market and Holden plans on achieving similar response for the VF Series. However, there is a slight hype in the market and the final response from the customers can only be ascertained post the launch of the vehicles. Holden is yet to confirm a particular launch date however the youth seems to be quite amazed with what Holden has to offer.
