Here's How The New Porsche Panamera Hybrid 4 E-Hybrid Works
|   Tuesday, October 25, 2016
Ferdinand Porsche was the one who built the world's first hybrid vehicle as early as in 1900 - 97 years before the appearance of the Toyota Prius. Thus, the hybrid Porsche models should not be seen as something unusual that that does not fit the brand ideology.

Despite the riots of many Porsche fans the German carmaker will go the way of electrification and will launch a hybrid version for every model in the range - even the Porsche 911 and the 718 Boxster or 718 Cayman models will have hybrid versions!

It is an irreversible process and models like the 918 Spyder that sports hybrid technology demonstrate that hybridization is beneficial and can turn a dynamic Porsche into a faster beast!

The path followed by Porsche is called E-Performance, under the aegis of which all hybrid and electric Porsche models (Porsche’s first electric vehicle will derive from the Mission-E concept) will be built.
The E-Performance ideology will reduce not only fuel consumption and emissions, but will provide unbeatable performance.
The latest addition to the Porsche hybrid model range is the new Panamera Hybrid 4 E-appearing in two new commercials, in which the functioning of the hybrid system in different regimes is explained.

The hybrid propulsion of the new Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid consists of a V6 twin-turbo engine gasoline engine (330 hp and 450 Nm of torque) with a displacement of 2.9 liters and an electric motor (136 hp and 400 Nm of torque) which together deliver a total of 462 hp and 700 Nm of torque.
The electric motor is integrated into the 8-speed automatic transmission and is powered by a lithium-ion battery pack of 14.1 kWh placed in the trunk floor, providing a range of 51 km in pure electric mode.

The batteries can be charged from a domestic power outlet in less than 6 hours while a 7.2 kW rapid car charger will reduce recharging time to 3.6 hours. The new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 4.6 seconds, reaches a top speed of 278 km / h and consumes just 2.5 liters of gasoline every hundred kilometers.

The new Porsche Panamera 4 E-Hybrid has six operating modes: E-Power, Hybrid Auto, E-Hold, E-Charge, Sport and Sport +.
TheE-Power drive operates in pure electric mode, the electric motor powering not only the rear wheels, but also the front ones. Therefore, the electric mode maintains the full traction. The maximum speed in the electric mode is limited to 140 km / h.
If the accelerator is pressed down, it automatically includes the internal combustion engine and the electric motor comes into operation only when maximum power is required - during acceleration or overtaking.

Besides those listed above, the plug-in hybrid system of the new Panamera 4 E-Hybrid can disconnect the engine and the electric motor from the transmission, providing a system running free on inertia, and in this mode the vehicle will not consume electricity or fuel. Naturally, the Panamera 4 E-Hybrid is equipped with an energy recovery system.
