|   Tuesday, April 23, 2013
Even though the BMW Z4 M was a slight disappointment considering the other cars BMW has on offer, this car has its own aesthetic value and demand in the market. Although this car looked the part, performance wise there were better alternatives in the market at the time this car was launched. In fact, the BMW Z3 M Coupe felt a lot better driving on the road.

The primary reason that led to the Z4 M's reduced popularity in the market was the stunning looks and capabilities of the Z3 Coupe.
However, with the launch long back, the Z4 M is finally getting the recognition that it deserves.

The overall ergonomics and dynamics of the Z4 M are perfect and the vehicle seems quite oddly desirable at the moment. The M Coupe is the cult car of the moment and everybody from youngsters to office goers want to own the Z4 M.

The Z4 M lasted on the market for 4 years and a total number of 200 cars were imported each year. This as a result means that there are not many units of this car left in the UK. The Z4 M Coupe was powered by a straight six E46 M3 engine sporting the similar strong built gray iron casing. The engine is super strong and reliable however the problems start with the electronic controls.

This was the major reason behind the faltering demand of the Z4 M Coupe back in the days. Engineers from BMW claim that the engine used on the Z4 M is capable of running smoothly for at least 200,000 Miles before starting to smoke. Insiders also point out that the efficiency of this engine is greater than the one powering the M3 Coupe while this engine is also considerably lighter weight.

The reduced weight also means enhanced life span for the clutch plate, if not subjected to excessive wear and tear. The engineering department of BMW is confident of its rock solid technologies used to design and develop the Z4 M Coupe and higher fuel efficiency, low CO2 emission, low premiums and purchasing price favor sales of the Z4 m Coupe in the used car market.

Although this vehicle does not feature the advanced aerodynamics of the Z4 Coupe in the later series, it does sport its share of advantages in the market which make it one of the most desirable vehicles to own, drive and maintain. It provides a better dynamics that the highly appreciated Porsche Cayman S.

However, as with all used cars, some of the aspects that need to be checked prior to purchase are wear and tear in the disc calipers, engine health, problems with the electronic controls such as the roof line, leakages in the windscreen etc. Considering BMW's history, the warranty of this vehicle should be increased for safety. Otherwise there are no significant issues to be worried about and considering BMW's service network, additional support should not pose a problem as and when required even for long time maintenance.
