|   Friday, March 07, 2014
At the Geneva Motor Show, Fiat presented the new Fiat 500, which comes on the market in 2014 with significant stylistic changes and technological improvements, including a digital instrument panel. Also, a new flagship will be revealed: the Fiat 500 CULT.

An important novelty is the introduction of the new 7-inch TFT instrument panel, making the Fiat 500 the first vehicle in its segment equipped with such a device.

The TFT screen, developed in conjunction with Magnetti Marelli, displays all the information and functions needed to control the machine without interrupting the cab's retro look.

Those familiar with analog clocks on the current model Fiat 500 will recognize immediately the design and implementation of the speedometer, tachometer and trip computer, all of which can be easily read at a glance.

The central screen, containing a digital image of the car, can be configured to display various information from the onboard computer, such as distance traveled, instant consumption, autonomy, and so on. New tools also allow displaying more warning messages such as open doors, low fuel, etc., in a more visible fashion, including the changing gears indicator.

The 7 inch screen can display multimedia information, GSM, and when the car is equipped with Tom Tom 2 Live navigation system, information on navigation, including specific graphics intersections and traffic information in real time.

The screen can reconfigure, when the Sport button is pressed. This feature is found on models with the 0.9 TwinAir engine, rated at 105 hp. This display, which shows the driving efficiency, turns into a turbo-boost clock, symbolizing the dual personality of the new yet effective TwinAir 105 performance unit.

The new TwinAir engine is also an important innovation in the Fiat 500 range. The two-cylinder TwinAir Turbo, has a Start & Stop system and it benefits from the new MultiAir valve control system II to achieve the perfect combination of performance and efficiency.

Combined with a 6-speed manual transmission, offered as standard, the new 0.9 TwinAir Turbo engine develops 105 hp at 5,500 rpm and 145 Nm at 2,000 rpm in Sport mode (98 hp and 120 Nm in Eco mode), which translates into an acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h in just 10 seconds and a top speed of 188 km / h, with average fuel consumption staying at just 4.2 liters / 100 km.

In regards to the new Fiat 500 Cult flagship, know that it is built on the highest equipment version - Lounge (which includes 15-inch wheels, panoramic glass roof, Blue & Me connectivity, leather steering wheel, steering wheel mounted controls and air conditioning), plus an additional range of equipment.

The range of engines available for the Fiat 500 Cult consists of a 1.2 liter petrol unit developing 69 hp, a 0.9 TwinAir with 85 HP, the new TwinAir rated at 105 HP, and the 1.3 MultiJet II Turbo Diesel 95 hp.

All new 2014 Fiat 500 models have extensive safety equipment, including standard ABS + EBD, 7 airbags (including for the driver's knee), ISOFIX attachment system, and daytime running lights (DRL) LED. ESP + ASR / MSR, HBA and Hill Holder systems are also available.

The new Fiat 500 will hit the market this April.
