Genetic Factors Defining the all new Range Rover Sport

Although the all new Range Rover Mk2 uses the same platform as that of its predecessor, close to 75 percent of its components are completely new. The all new Range Rover Sport was designed by Jaguar Land Rover keeping in mind two different parameters – Sport and Range Rover. The aim of the engineering and designing team at Land Rover was to design a vehicle which was agile, strong yet responsive.

Therefore, even though this Range Rover shares the similar aluminum PLA platform with its predecessor, the additional components make sure that the vehicle is as good as new.
Engineers say that this vehicle features class leading handling and controllability as the suspension was chopped off by a margin and this creates better road hugging capability. This SUV should set up new standards of what handling should be like and engineers at Jaguar Land Rover say that it will be surprising if this vehicle fails to attract the crowds.

The Range Rover Sports features three rows of seats which land Rover popularly refers to as 5 + 2 seating capability. The vehicle features a row of seats quietly accommodated into the boot space. This as a result enhances the seating ability of the vehicle although sacrificing on the luggage carrying capability of the vehicle.

A huge amount of work has been put into the fittings, rear wiper, rear stop lamp as well as the rear tail gate and this ensures sufficient head room for the occupants. Jaguar Land Rover wants to manufacture a hybrid version of the car and this means that the vehicle will attract a larger audience base. Despite the odds, the Range Rover Sport is fairly refined and is truly an on and off roader.

Jaguar Land Rove claims that the Range Rover Sport has the ability to wade through 850 mm which is equivalent to a height up to the door handles. The light weight aluminum PLA structure consists of 50 percent recycled aluminum which consists of approximately 3722 rivets which hold the structure together. The PLA also features a floor and crash structure and this could be used in future production models of Jaguar.

The lower part of the chassis is constructed out of cast iron along with aluminum and the strength obtained by the structure is fairly impressive. The side body of the Range Rover Sport is also the biggest of any production model vehicle on road today. Jaguar Land Rover also plans on launching an app that will help the users / driver connect their Range Rover Sport.

The super charged 5.0 liter model of the Range Rover Sport features 380 mm disc brakes on the front with 365 mm discs at the rear. The brakes can be operated individually or together depending upon the need and use of the driver. The torque vectoring system reduces under steer and helps the driver control the vehicle at all times. Body roll is present in minimal quantities which make the Range Rover Sport sail smoothly around corners.
