General Motors Recalls 1.5 Million Vehicles in China
|   Wednesday, January 01, 2014
General Motors' Chinese division has recalled close to 1.5 Million vehicles due to a potential safety threat, resulting in a massive recall in recent history. General Motors is in a partnership with SAIC Motor Corp. and the companies have jointly recalled a total of 1.46 Million units from Chevrolet and Buick. Locally made products here have faced some safety issues rising in the bracket holding the fuel pump in place. Quality control analysts have recognized the problem and hence, this recall was issued.

Various units of Chevrolet's Sail have been recalled and these are locally manufactured, for sale in emerging markets. Ford Motor Company will recall 81,000 units of its Kuga over a mechanical fault in its steering column. The two primary affected vehicles are Buick's Excelle and Chevrolet's Sail, both of which are high priority vehicles, attracting a lot of sales.

Hence, getting both these vehicles straightened out is a primary objective for both companies. This will result in a drop in confidence level even though General Motors plan on regaining faith soon enough. As of now, getting the vehicles straightened out is maximum priority while various processes are being worked out to restrain the problem. Repair measures are being worked out while the specific process should be worked out soon.

Market shares for Ford Motor and General Motors in general, increased by 51 percent and 11.4 percent respectively. Car sales in China are set to expand even more, hence every big player is trying to get their products lined up. American car makers have out sold other vehicles in China for the past fiscal and they plan on expanding sales within the next few years.

This recall hence comes as a shocker to their expansion plans for the future. People, who are currently using the Chevrolet Sail and Buick Excelle manufactured in 2012, are requested to report to the respective authorities and General Motors owned dealerships and service centers to fix up a suitable date for the repair. Even though this is not a major problem, excessive use with the affected component could result in complete breakage.

This problem should not take much time to repair even though the sheer volume of vehicles could make this is a large and complicated process. Work has started across the country while we are unsure if these affected vehicles have been sold out of China as well. This needs constant monitoring and General Motors is currently working on the same. European car makers will find an opportunity to enhance sales figures here although this is not a total loss for General Motors.

Asian car makers have not been able to gain a string foot hold in China even though they have been in the market segment a long while than their European or American counterparts. In 2012 along General Motors gained close to 30 percent of their profit from China. They plan on continuing with this spell for the upcoming year as well. For more details, visit our web site daily.
