Four best Land Rover Defenders you should know about
|   Sunday, August 30, 2015
Land Rover specializes in one thing which is none other than Defenders. Till few days ago, customers were not being able to buy Land Rover Defender. This is because they were working on new Defender. Now they have released that car and also shared a brochure featuring 13 unique defenders ever manufactured. Out of these 13, four best defenders have been discussed over here. First and foremost, when you are talking about defenders, you cannot just miss out Pink Panther of SAS Series.

Militaries used to and still like Land Rover. Once, SAS 109 were not being able to produce enough Land Rovers for them. They then came up with the idea of a defender which could camouflage in desert area, mainly during dusk and dawn. This car was named as Pink Panther. Pink signifies the color of the car body. This is the color which is seen during dusk and dawn in desert area. Fuel capacity of this beast is 100 gallons and it could accommodate three people. Cooling is better in this car and chassis is of high build quality.

Up next is the Judge Dredd of 101 Forward Control. This car was first launched in the year 1972. This car was manufactured to tow guns which are placed in fields. This defender served as a great ambulance, even as radio cars and in present day, this defender serves as even nice campers. Film makers used to prefer cars of Land Rover a lot as they made a great appearance on screen and were also strong enough to perform stunts with. They bought lots of such defenders once and later sold those after shooting was over.

Next defender to discuss is Esarco 8x8 which is as famous as the two other defenders discussed before. This giant car had 8 all drive wheels along with a counter steering wheel axle which helped a lot for maneuverability. This car was superb indeed and was commercialized by both UK and US companies. But unfortunately they somehow could not hold this car in the market for a long time. They failed to hold it for military purposes even.

Last but not the least defender to be discussed is Forest Rover of Roadless Traction. Main idea behind making this car is to make a car for Forestry Commission which was easy to travel with in forest. Yes, of course there were other cars of Land Rover in which they could travel, but most such cars used to get stuck up in the middle of the forest. Hence, Roadless Traction created this car which had tractor tires instead of normal ones and that made all the difference.

Engineering of this car was not that easy as it seems and engineers of that time made it possible by their talent. Front part was installed with a 14 inch track which was wider than standard tracks. Axles were also replaced to bring up speed. Defenders will always have demand, mainly for off road purposes and also for filming.
