Ford unveils the next generation Ranger Pickup
|   Saturday, October 13, 2012
Pickup trucks till now featured a design pattern and external design based on Mazda. However, this is all set to change as the all new Ford Ranger is here. The Ranger is by no means a new vehicle and the vehicle is available worldwide since 1988. The other famous name of the Ranger is the Courier.
Pickups became a craze with the youngsters a few decades back for their high economy, great ground clearance and performance and people who wanted to won a vehicle could go for a pickup while enjoying lots of space and a viable tax advantage.

The pickups today are by no means the glamour less vehicles that they once used to be. These vehicles are a fashion statement now and the Ranger features leather interiors and upholstery with a stitched dash board and seat cover. The color tones are available depending on the choice of the customers and the aluminum gear knob has been placed to enhance the visual aesthetics of the vehicle while reducing the excess weight.

The new Ranger is a quite but highly powerful machine and the vibrations have been controlled thanks to the advanced engineering and suspension on the vehicle. The 3.2 liter super charged Puma engine is enough for the job and the vehicle is quite comfortable and refined for a pickup truck.
The vehicle has an advanced towing capacity post 1000 RPM and this makes this vehicle a perfect pickup truck – hardy and powerful. The Ranger works best within the 4,000 RPM mark and power matters when it comes to pickups.

The peak torque of 375 ft lb is obtained at 3,700 RPM and this is in the second gear shift on the Ranger. The vehicle is a powerful beast and although it may not sport a fancy top speed or acceleration time, the vehicle is a powerful machine in its own way.

The 0 - 70 MPH acceleration takes close to 11.7 seconds and although the figures are not exceptional, they are enough if you consider this to be a pickup. The Ranger, though not as fun to drive as the Ford Raptor, is a pretty decent buy and you could opt for this vehicle if you need to cover long distances per day.

The Ranger is quite a fuel efficient machine once you realize the prospect of driving the beast. Once accustomed to the Ranger, it is a perfect vehicle for driving on the road as well as off it. A four cylindered 4 x 4 Ranger is available for the market and this vehicle reaches speed of 70 MPH in around 11.6 seconds.

The shift quality is not as refined as expected and the vehicle has a few downsides performance wise. But overall, the Ford Ranger is a pretty decent buy and the vehicle is set to be available across showrooms fall 2013.

The price and details of the engine has not been disclosed as of yet and Ford plans to keep the hype alive. We just hope that the Ranger promises all that it claims.
