Ford unveils the all new 2013 Police Interceptor
|   Sunday, September 16, 2012
Ford's latest addition, the Police Interceptor, which came into the market in 2011, has received a major performance upgrade. The car has all new 3.7 liter independent twin cam shafts with variable timing and this enables the vehicle to save more fuel and perform better than its predecessor.

The Police Interceptor now sports a 3.7 liter V6 and produces 305 HP and 279 NM torque and returns decent mileage figures @ 18 mpg in city traffic and 25 mpg on the freeway, which makes raises the average to 21 mpg.

The torque and power generated by the Police Interceptor is very high and there are a very few sedans dedicated to cops which are capable of beating the Ford Interceptor, at least on paper. Bill Gubing, the Chief Engineer at Ford and the mastermind behind the Police Interceptor commented that, high fuel efficiency and an upgraded performance means better service and hence less chances of dereliction of duty.

The Ford Police Interceptor, in fact with its V6 has more performance than many sedans with V8s. On top of that, the Police Interceptor has the option of three distinct mode setups, allowing the drivers to choose a setup that is required at the moment.

The mode setup can be changed between economic, sport and hyper modes and the modes are efficient for saving fuel, enhanced performance and high speed chasing and can be changed accordingly.

The Ford Police Interceptor also has three different models for sale sporting three different power train designs - the 3.5 liter Eco Boost, the 3.7 liter V6 and the smaller 3.5 liter V6. The 3.7 liter V6 was available on the 2011 Ford Police Interceptor and this was a very efficient engine.

However, to improve on something that is already good, engineers from Ford joined hands and developed the all new 3.7 liter Eco Boost. The car was focused entirely on the law enforcers and hence an expert panel of the top law enforcers was gathered together and they advised the engineers on important issues regarding top speed requirement, space criteria, safety measures, etc.

The all new and improved Ford Police Interceptor is a safe, efficient and durable machine and has even passed the 75 mph rear crash test. Ford's new offering to the police department, has undergone a lot of hard tests and has passed each one along the way.

The car had even gone a battery test to confirm the stability of each and every component of the vehicle and the new Interceptor has an increased wheel base and is heavier than its predecessor. This gives a new air of confidence to the person behind the wheel.

The front seats have a specially layered seat belt which makes enough room for officers to fit in with their duty belt and badge. The front seats also have an anti stab plating, which makes the ride comfortable as well as safe from desperate vigilantes. The car also features increased leg room and head space and overall, this upgrade makes the Interceptor even better than the iconic Ford Crown Victoria in all respects.
