Ford introduces the tough and spacious 2014 Expedition
|   Friday, September 13, 2013
The third generation of Expedition has been launched in 2007 and it has been promoted quite unchanged ever since. However, 2014 will bring up a new Expedition, this time featuring an improved mechanical load leveling system which will actually replace the loud air based system.

Ford seems to have quite a conservatory attitude towards the Expedition model as it seems that the vehicle has mainly kept all the rough lines and the same body on frame construction.
Quite classic SUV, Expedition is one of those vehicles which has gained a lot of popularity and is considered reliable and practical by most of the drivers who has chosen it.

Some might even wonder if this fourth generation of Expedition SUV is going to have enough upgrades and modifications in order to compete with some other latest releases from different brands. It seems that the main competitors of the 2014 Expedition are 2014 Chevrolet Suburban and 2014 Toyota Sequoia.

Definitely popular among the American drivers, Ford is probably always remains one of the first choices in the US. SUV lovers actually consider it as an invitation to pack up and drive, camp or go on a trip.

As the pictures show, the new vehicle will actually keep the overall boxy body and will still resemble the strong attitude of a smaller truck. It would be nice to still have this model among the latest cars which have continuously been designed even smaller and smaller.

Featuring the same 5.4 liter V8 powerplant, the engine is certainly able to deliver 310 horsepower and 365 pound feet of torque. On the other hand, the Toyota Sequoia features a 5.7 liter, V8 engine but is able to deliver up to 381 hp. A six speed automatic transmission has been paired with the 5.4 liter engine and it seems that axle ratio is actually of 3.31 to 1.

The upcoming model is not necessarily an economic model but among the consumption levels of other SUV we could say that the rating received by Expedition – 14mgp in the city and 20 mpg in the highway – is quite decent. We might expect Ford to announce the debut of an even more economical SUV, taking into account the latest green trends on the market.

Despite the fact that the latest Toyota Sequoia's towing rating is a lot lower than that of Ford Expedition, the Japanese vehicle will still remain a quite rough competitor. A driver interested in both models might also take into consideration the starting price of the Sequoia: $43k.

On the other hand, the other competitor of the 2014 Ford Expedition is the 2014 Chevrolet Tahoe which is also quite a conservatory release meaning that it has also kept a lot of previous characteristics. Just as Sequoia, the Chevrolet Tahoe features more hp than Expedition.

The starting price which has been confirmed for 2014 Ford Expedition is $41,180, quite fair and honest regarding the offered performance. Still, Ford might take into account some novelties for the upcoming SUVs.
