Ford Focus Facelift: Pictures And Details On The Compact Car
|   Sunday, March 02, 2014
In accordance with the trend of recent years, that says most car manufacturers have launched new models in electronics and technology fairs, Ford reveals the Focus facelift at a mobile congress in Barcelona (24-27 February, 2014).

The most sold car last year, with 1.1 million customers, Focus is ready for reinvention in order to retain the first place on the podium in 2014 for the third consecutive year. The facelift is a substantial one, covering all aspects of the compact model.

The dashboard is refreshed by an 8-inch touch screen, plus a Sync2 multimedia system at its second generation. It is the novelty that Ford customers were waiting after most compact models came with color touch screen even in the standard version (Volkswagen Golf, Mazda3).

Focus is the first model in the range of the U.S. carmaker sold with Sync2 on the European market. The 8-inch screen offers easy access to air conditioning, audio system, navigation and phone.

The main gadget that Ford wants to highlight, however, is voice control. It can call numbers from the phonebook, you can select a specific song can adjust the temperature, or you can enter the destination for the navigation system. Furthermore, when uttering the word "hungry", the system will provide a number of recommended restaurants, based on the Michelin Guide indications.

At the level of safety equipment, the Focus raises the stakes with new technologies, many of them completely new to this segment. Among them, we have the Perpendicular Parking system, a feature that helps rear parking between two vehicles.

Also representing a novelty is the Cross Traffic Alert systems, in which sensors warn the driver when backing out from a parking lot if something is wrong. The system detects cars circulating at that time and has a maximum range of 40 meters.

The rear sensors help the functioning of the Park-Out Assist responsible for maneuvering a parallel parking. For this operation, the steering wheel is automatically released and the driver only needs to manage the throttle and brake.

First Generation Ford Focus debuted in 1998 as a replacement for the old Escort.

The second generation arrived in September 2004 at the Paris Auto Show and began marketing in the spring of that year.

The third generation, the current one, started in 2010 and merged with the European American Focus, resulting in a global model, released simultaneously on several continents. The production began in 2010, and a year later sales. The model was marked by innovative technologies for its segment, but also by an electric version offered since May 2012.

The current generation is the one that managed to become the best selling model worldwide in 2012 and 2013, exceeding the best-selling Japanese Toyota Corolla. If in 2013, it sold 1.1 million units, since 1998 until now, no less than 12 million Focuses have found customers, seven million of them in Europe.

According to a Ford survey, 40 percent of European customers of the American brand identify the brand with one car: the Focus. More than one in three Focus customers will buy the same car again.
