|   Friday, May 24, 2013
In this modern age of competition no producer wants to be left behind. There is constant innovation in each and every production house. Every one of them wants to make it count at the big stage. The competition has become even more intense with the trend of producing smaller cars. The companies have been trying to attend to the need of the hour and so far everyone has succeeded in making the people happy with their cars.

It is really a big surprise to see that three leading producers have launched similar cars in a span of very short time.
This only goes to show the intensity of the competition in the industry. Peugeot launched the 208 GTI where as the Ford Fiesta ST was another launch closely followed by the outstanding Renault Clio. These cars are similar in all variations.

All three cars come under the same segment of cars. The similarities between the cars are more than the dissimilarities. All the three cars come across as a super mini that has a 1.6 litre petrol engine. The size of the cars is close enough. The cars are very good in their own terms. It would be a really tough choice for the people to choose between the three cars. To help the people we go ahead and conduct a comparative study on these cars.

Starting with the top speed of the cars the 208 GTI and the Clio are same at 143 mph where as the Fiesta falls behind at 139 mph. In terms of emission levels the Fiesta at 138 g/km is superior to the Peugeot and the Clio who have emission levels of 139 g/km and 144 g/km respectively. In terms of weight the Clio is the heaviest of the three at 1204 kg followed by the Fiesta at 1163 kg and the Peugeot 208 at 1160 kg.

When it comes to the fuel storage capacity of the car the Ford Fiesta stores only 42 litres where as the Clio can store only 45 litres and beating them by some distance is the 208 GTI that can store 50 litres of petrol. The Peugeot and the Ford have a six speed manual gear box that works in favour of the car's technology where as the Renault has a six speed dual clutch gear box that looks faulty at times.

Both the Peugeot and the Renault can generate power up to 197 BHP where as the Ford generates a lower power at 180 BHP. The ford also has a boot space of only 276 litres followed by the Peugeot at 285 litres and the Clio has the largest boot space at 300 litres.

The outlook of the cars is great and they have good interiors. The choice of the people will determine what they are looking for. The most important factor while buying a car is the price. At £19,995 the Renault Clio is the most expensive car followed closely by the Peugeot 208 GTI at £18,895 and the cheapest car of them all is the Ford Fiesta priced at £17,995.
