Ford Fiesta Red/Black Edition Manages Greater BHP/liter than a Bugatti Veyron
|   Wednesday, June 25, 2014
The next time your friends ask you why your Ford Fiesta has a puny 1.0 liter engine, tell them that it has higher power generation per liter, than a Bugatti Veyron. This however, does not justify Ford's decision, of painting the vehicle in one hue. This is when we come to terms with the fact that, the Red and Black Editions Ford Fiesta, is indeed special.

Getting aside from minor clichés such as exterior paint scheme for now, we are actually sad that Ford decided to remove their 1.
liter Zetec S engine block, as it was quite a revelation, when we test drove Zetec S, on track. The only problem with this car was the lack of a sixth gear. This made highway driving, less enthusiastic. The Zetec S displaced around 138 BHP, which is similar to what the current 1.0 liter engine displaces now.

Despite Ford recording game changing sales volumes, with their Fiesta ST, their Zetec S has taken up a considerably large part of this industry too. This vehicle is just as refined within city perimeters, as it is on the freeway. Impressive amounts of body control and chassis rigidity is at play here, assisting overall steering and handling, by a huge margin.

Ford has not made any major transformations to the Red/Black's suspension settings. This plays a major role in this vehicle's superior body control and road grip. The suspension springs have been lowered by 10 mm, increasing ride and body control, along with handling. The chassis is 12 percent stiffer than standard models, while the rear suspension is stiffer that its front.

This helps keep the vehicle grounded at all times, mostly during high speed cornering. Additional steering enhancements work great with higher torque development, which work in unison, providing higher overall power and control. Standard 16-inch alloyed rims are currently available, with optional 17 inch rims, for advanced users. The new engine saves close to 35 kg, along with a lighter chassis and body frame, providing greater stability and high speed reliability.

If you do not have any problems with the ‘1.0 liter' tag, the Ford Fiesta Red/Black Edition, could be a very important and interesting vehicle choice. Most users are not aware of this vehicle's true potential, unless they take a test drive. However, it does not offer the urgency of a three cylindered engine block, even though, the difference between both blocks, is hardly noticeable. Fuel economy has improved, as a result of using a small block engine, along with reduction in CO2 emission levels.

Even though Ford would argue that the Fiesta Red/Black Edition does not need a sixth gear for mass performance and that it would further increase production costs, we sincerely hope Ford offers a six speed manual transmission, at least as optional, in future models. This Special Edition vehicle sports a price tag of £15,995 and is able to accelerate from 0 – 60 MPH within 9 seconds flat. Top speeds of up to 125 MPH are currently expected, at this moment.
